GE Appliances is completely chinese owned by Haier.
Sums up modern Merica in a single statement
GE was one of the greatest diversified industrial companies in the world. Along came the 80's and Jack Welch. Turned them into a glorified finance company for short term profits. Caught up with the company after he left. Straight to the crapper from there.

Rand Paul and Thomas Massie are not allowed to take any credit for this. They were anti tariff.

You misspelled Jeff Immelt. He's the one that sold off 2/3 of the company.

So fun fact - GE Appliances is not owned by General Electric. They are actual owned by Haier, a company headquartered in China. They purchased the appliance division in 2016. They also have the rights to use the GE name through 2026.
So... A Chinese company outsourced production to the US.

I’m sure once the tariff situation changes, they’ll send production back to China

How does Rand Paul feel about this?

No, I got the point. You're claiming that someone told you that tariffs wouldn't return manufacturing here. I'm just asking who that was, because clearly we can already make washing machines here so that would be an odd claim to make.
Did anybody here actually say that to you or is it just a general sky scream?

I worked for GE under Immelt, Flannery, and Culp. Welch was was less of a problem than Immelt.

GE makes a wholeeeeeee lot of stuff.
Do they make clothes driers that are NOT energy efficient? Those things take 5 cycles for your clothes to dry which uses MORE energy.

Yeh, but Pete Hegseth said our boys in the bombers or something like that and did not include women, so are we really winning?

Not gonna argue the managerial points, more like Welch crapped out on the values of GE from the past.
Diversified like no other without too much diversification
Never valued the biggest asset of GE, the brains and loyalty of the workers

That looks both impressive and miserable at the same time.

All that’s left of GE is GE Aerospace with Appliances remaining only as a brand but owned by Haier as another poster said.
After years of the diversification of the company diluting the value of the stock, Larry Culp has it humming. Stock closed today $3 off the all time high which was under Jack in 2000 just before he retired.

They still have the plant heading out of Cincy toward Dayton?
Before BuckNuts conned UC into going State, the big nexus of long term stability was UC top Engineering school feeding that GE engine plant and Wright Pat.
So they sold off health and train engines?
Who got those assets?

So you think this offsets everything else? I just saw today that our trade deficit has grown instead of shrinking. I take such stats with a grain of salt, but still.
I'm expecting a highly automated plant.

Probably this, especially with UK just down the road with a robotics program

The good thing about them is that while they won't employ a lot of people, it will bring manufacturing back to the states.
Overall it's a plus. But I wasn't aware they were Chinese owned. All the inflation we've exported has been used to take over American companies.
