It's apparent from this the votes to confirm we're not gonna be there

Nah, Trump does not want to waste his political capital on this issue, on to the next. Not all appointments make it.

I think it's safe to say everyone just hates Matt gaetz.

The exact same thing can be said about boyh the President and especially the Vice President of the United States. How is like-ability relevant in appointments?

His statement sounds like bullshite. Something is up.

I'm sure there is a lot of truth to it, but then too perhaps he'd like to take Rubio's senate seat as a consolation prize.

5-D chess.

Appoint someone like Gaetz to make them freak out. Then put the guy you wanted all along who actually has a resume worth being AG, Paxton, in there who the establishment also hates but will be like… well at least he’s not Gaetz.

Hopefully the Missouri AG is the next pick. Andrew Bailey.
I have known Andrew his whole life as he was born in Mississippi. I have followed his career closely. Actually had a picture of him on our refrigerator when he was tank commander in Iraq. Great guy and has been gang buster since being appointed.
However, he was appointed and assumed the roll of Missouri AG just a few months ago (20 or so). Is he really up to the grind of Washington and knowing where the skeletons are hidden within the ICC?

Just a little preview to show you how well Trump‘s agenda will go. They should’ve put it to a vote so every single one of those cocksuckers could be primaried.

But he’s also a congressman-elect for the 119th Congress.

According to the NYT, his resignation included a statement that he would not be taking his seat for the 119th Congress.

The report is getting released and he's withdrawing to save Donnie's face.

Not normally a believer in this, but when Trump isn't running his mouth nonstop at the slightest hint of opposition, it's almost certainly because he wanted it. He can't help himself otherwise

Some folks said this was the play all along.

Why would that have been the play?

If DeSantis was going to appoint him to Rubio's seat, he could just do so....the AG nomination and premature resignation from the House aren't required for that

My bad, I left "the play" part out. Lol
Some were saying, Trump knew Dems would freak out over Gaetz and Trump could use removing Gaetz as leverage to make deals.

I didn't agree, but who knows.... None of us know, that's for certain!

This will probably shake out fine, but from the outset it seemed like a high risk, low upside move that didn't make much sense for a lot of us.

Funny how you figs went from “Kamala is going to whip Trump” to being relegated to crying about cabinet picks.

“The establishment” hates damn near all his cabinet picks, some for good reasons, some for not so good reasons

It doesn’t matter if they have the votes to approve.

Gaetz clearly didn’t
