Voting machines were not switching votes. Rupert settled because he didn't want to pay out billions and have Dominion expose how the hosts really think and speak out of site of the viewers.

Lots and lots of money (EDIT: $787.5M, whoo boy) without appeals. Most cases never go to trial.

The discovery phase of the case is over. Fox had the full power of the court at its disposal for more than a year to discover evidence to show anything other than that the allegations against Dominion were false. Yet we haven't heard of any evidence at all to support the vote fraud allegations against Dominion. Meanwhile, we have read numerous emails and texts where Fox hosts wrote themselves that they knew the allegations were false.
It isn't difficult to figure out who caved in this case.

Smart move by Fox. The testimony that came out at trial by these Fox hosts and producers was going to be devastating for the network.

I had little doubt. Fox asked to have the trial date moved back so they could work on a settlement.
Fox didn’t want the record to show the embarrassing info that was going to come out. It was going to undermine their credibility bigly. Viewers would have fled even more than they have been.
The question is how it will impact their reporting…?
I also question how this is going to impact the relationship between them and Trump. I think they’ll be more careful with the narrative if it doesn’t have any merit.
I just wish I could find a TV news outlet that wasn’t biased and just reported timely and relevant facts without any slant.
