It's pretty naive to think the focus shouldn't be on both.

Chuck's point is that you gotta focus on more immediate things the public can feel good about, not some vaccine which may be 2 years away.

Work on the vaccine sure, but for public morale/economic purposes try to find more immediate encouraging things to talk about.

Telling people to expect 2 years of this will result in riots.

Of course the right people should be focused on developing a vaccine, but clearly it's not important to the average person right now, and him focusing on it in interviews has a negative psychological effect at this point.

Chuck is a badass. He's moved above Clint Eastwood on my short list the celebs I actually like.

You are parsing words.

The point from the OP is that in the short term, the vaccine isn't relevant to our decisions because it won't be available any time soon.

Obviously, long term it's a part of our plan to address the virus. But everyone knows this, and the original point wasn't disputing that.

In other words, you are arguing with yourself.

Not dumb at all. The vaccine, while important, won't do anything to help the situation today or in the near future. We need to keep the public focus on treatment and recovery today and make the vaccine a side point as it continues to be developed.

the point is, you can focus on the vaccine behind the scene, but it does very little good to talk about daily...especially when you're being passive about a drug with immediate impact being available

but you knew that already...

If you can read and comprehend you can understand where Woolery is coming from. Fauci seems to have an extreme resistance to the hydroxychloriquine/zpac cocktail for some reason. He won't say it sucks, but he won't admit that it can be effective even as a therapeutic

The Hillary lover doesn't want to hear about a real "current" treatment option to slow the death rate and allow us to go back to a normal.life? Shocking.

I'm pretty sure by "focus" he means in terms of what Fauci should be talking about. People who are actual doctors, working on a vaccine, unlike Fauci, can keep working on it without talking about it. But Hydroxychloroquine is something we actually presently have, and it is working. It should be a huge point of emphasis to make everyone aware of it's effectiveness and availability, and to implore doctors everywhere to prescribe it to their patients.

Instead, he just gets up there with his gloomy rhetoric and barely acknowledges Chloroquine.

Hydroxychloroquin hasn't been proven as effective. When it is, he will comment on it.

Dumb tweet. The focus is already on a half measure of helping cure some cases. The ultimate answer IS and has always been about 60/40 between a vaccine and personal habits. And if it is around like the flu as in long term then keeping yourself as healthy as you can may be as important as a vaccine. Because it has proven it will thin the herd of obese, unhealthy 55 and up people.

Fauci has forgotten more about infectious diseases and vaccines than Chuck ever knew about anything.

What a bullcrap lie. Effective, and 100% guarantee for the rest of time, are two different things. It has been well beyond established that it is effective. Highly effective.

But, hey, let's just go back to giving patients nothing, because "it's not a 100% cure". Ridiculous.

Next week, next month, or next year I won't be taking any "vaccine" that comes out - though I fully expect it be compulsory
