Sounds like corporate suicide.

Even if they're just snitching to your insurance company and not the police, this still sucks. You think it's one of those built-in monitors like you can get from your insurance company where they monitor you for a month or so?

How is this different than the INSCOs forcing people to put those "safe driver" devices on their vehicles?

I’m guessing there’s a state sponsored research paper out there about how this will save lives. And the technology is probably getting pushed at an international level.
It will get mandated like everything else

Sounds like I need to brush up on disconnecting / sabotaging / spoofing that bullshite

Screw Ford. Never buying another.
I'm calling bullshite. What's the purpose then?

The company continued: "This patent does not state that driving data from customers’ vehicles would be shared with law enforcement, which is what some media have incorrectly reported. And note, patent applications are intended to protect new ideas but aren’t necessarily an indication of new business or product plans.”

What if it’s shared with insurance agencies, etc. this is a big invasion of privacy IMO, but they already have tracking systems embedded, so that ship has already sailed, but don’t like this slippery slope being continued

Woke version of bombing themselves

I think our only option is to drive old cars for as long as possible
Posted on 8/9/24 at 8:30 am to Night Vision
When self driving cars arrive there will be no more speeding.

I have the right to face my accuser if I am charged with a crime (even a speeding ticket). In this case, would my car be the accuser?

Pretty sure there was a news article a while back about Ford filing a patent for remote shutdown and lockout of your vehicle...
ETA: Yup
Don't miss your "payments"...social or fiscal

If they actually cared about freedom, locking it away and keeping themselves and others from using this technology for the duration of the patent.

Honestly looks like something just for police vehicles.
Really this kind of system is already in place in most semi trucks.
Everything else is already there; radar to register speed of the vehicle ahead, sensors that read traffic signs to determine speed limits, and cameras that record after "events" determined through ai/g-force sensors. All that is missing is an event trigger related to the vehicle in front to generate a report and record.
Could be wrong though, if this is for anything other than police then f that.

Some Ford executives may be found on the road dead soon.

I’m for it if it makes the roads just a little safer… I don’t want to die in a wreck

Can't OnStar disable your vehicle?
Posted on 8/9/24 at 9:46 am to lowhound
Why would they want to do something like this?
