Of course he was a beacon you fool
This does not follow. Are all nominal Christians humanist beacons as a result of their professed faith?

You sir, don't understand that dear CS Lewis was obviously referring to those operating under some delusion of omnipotence and benevolence... He obviously wasn't stating that men like king David or Solomon or Jehoshaphat were terrible tyrants to live under... You fool

I don’t hate him by any means and see the abolition of slavery as a 100% net positive but his actions involved arresting reporters and escalating to war instead of finding any sort of peaceful resolution or divorce. He suspended several citizen’s rights and parts of the constitution during the war. I mean it’s war… but still.
I’m glad that the civil war ended the slavery practice but Lincoln didn’t do much to avoid war.

You are a beacon if Christ lives in you.... Yes

As he shouldn't have. A strong hand was the only approach for God's will to come about in this country.

That's a mighty hard thing to verify. By that account, nearly every President ought to qualify - as well as innumerable monarchs and petty despots throughout history.

Lincoln is responsible for the Goliath of big government we see today.
It was never meant to be this big and he was the catalyst for it.

The problem with Lincoln is people often view the slavery issue through the lens of modern times. Therefor, Lincoln is so widely celebrated because of his connection to ending slavery.
But it is so much more nuanced than that. What he did to suspend the Constitution and declare war on half the country, as well as start a Civil War that would leave 700,000 Americans dead should at minimum, leave his legacy as somewhat Grey.
I have no ties to the old south. My ancestors weren't even here yet, and they settled in the Midwest when they got here in the early 20th Century. But from studying history, it is pretty clear that post CW America completely f*cked the Constitution and states rights.
The one issue I have a hard time wrestling with is the slavery issue, which makes me less sympathetic towards the south (even with viewing it in the context of the times). It was an ugly situation, and should have been handled better.

No you fool.... The requisite is Christ must live in you.... Not you claim to be Christian. See the difference?

Great post. People often forget Lincoln killed more Americans then all of the enemies combined in every single war we fought combined.

It was handled the way God handles all sin... In due time it's all judged and there is a reckoning. What was the civil war if not that?

I understand the difference, yes. However, I do not claim to know men's hearts, so I must simply take them at their word. Unfortunately, as you have well established, I am a fool, so perhaps some of the finer distinctions in soteriology are probably lost on me.

He didn't kill them and the decisions that he had to make which led to their demise were obviously done with the most severe distaste. No one likes war, esp a Christian. This is the sacrifice of leadership though.

Nothing in the video is about his Christianity.
Stop projecting.

Ok. Truman didn't technically annihilate Hiroshima. His decision did. Better?

I'm sure there are Russians and Chinese that think the same of Stalin and Mao.

You think he liked to have to make that decision
Another God fearing man... But was nonetheless a man full of failure. Read a really good biography on Truman. Good stuff.

Ultimately God's will is done throughout the earth in every nation as it pleases him. If he gives china a Mao and Russia a Stalin... It's a curse and judgment upon their dragon worship or whatever false Babylonian mystery religion they claim to worship God in
