This is the sacrifice of leadership though.
Good leaders solve without going to war.
It was a failure of leadership.

But it is so much more nuanced than that. What he did to suspend the Constitution and declare war on half the country, as well as start a Civil War that would leave 700,000 Americans dead should at minimum, leave his legacy as somewhat Grey.
7 states seceded before Lincoln ever took office. The war was essentially inevitable. Saying Lincoln "started" the war simply isn't reality.
Also I find it strange how some are indignant about Lincoln jailing a few journalists, but the south literally enslaving millions of people, seceding, and fighting a war to maintain that slavery is excused. It seems just a bit hypocritical.

I mean, I'm still amazed that there are grown men who still believe the Civil War was fought over slavery.
I'm amazed that most don't know that Lincoln was a railroad attorney.
And he needed his railroad more than he needed a new country to his South.
So, Lincoln freed the slaves and how much land did this God fearing man steal from the natives?

Thats why.
Is anyone praising Jefferson Davis in here?

No, this is embarrassing. People that say the above are ahistorical. Letters of Secession, read them. Whether or not some poor infantrymen fought specifically for slavery or for some misplaced duty to a region, matters not. The people in the south that led their local citizenry into a doomed struggle clearly were doing so to preserve the "peculiar institution".

Which ones? There were like 5 I think?
Anyway, the states that seceded adhered to the Constitution to secede from the Union peacefully.
It was Lincoln who thought it was his right to preserve the Union by force if necessary.
I mean, the victors write the history.
Doesn't mean it's correct or what you learned in 5th grade is correct.

Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis were the same person. Palpatine’s plot in Star Wars wasn’t based on Hitler; it was based on Abraham Lincoln.

That's kind of the point of the thread. Lincoln nuthuggers are hypocrites.
find me one person praising Davis in this thread.

Anyway,
You know of them but don't know their contents? No, "anyway", it is historical fact that the secession was led by and was for the slavers.

Complete and total bullshite as slavery was on its way out and would have ended on its own anyway.
Knowing he was going to kill MILLIONS of Americans is the reason why it was historic to make this about slavery.
But Lincoln knew he needed the cotton and agriculture of the South as exports to make the country grow.
You act an expert on all of these subjects but your usage is one of vanity and vagueness.

Why? Explain why those states didn't have the right to do that and Lincoln by himself without congress had the constitutional authority to stop it.

Exactly. These guys are pretend experts but really don't even know anything about Lincoln other than war bad.
