Really the best analogy?

My father fought in the South Pacific. He was also part of the occupation force after the war. He often spoke of his time there..How he went in hating all the "Japs" and left feeling a love and respect for them as a people. The US spent millions of dollars rebuilding Japan and Germany. Gave them back their country and became allies. What Putin is doing in no way compares. He is a murderous KGB thug.. it amazes me that so many of you seem to think he's a "Good guy" or somehow justify what he's doing. frick him..and frick yall. Get out of my country..go join Vlad. You can help him fight against the illuminati or cabal or whatever nonsense you sickos are dreaming up today

You should rightfully be proud of your Dad.

I worked with a gentleman for many years.

He was a big man that I looked up to on every level.

A big tall lovable man.

A Cajun man.

We worked hand in hand in the restaurant business

One night he told me about the Bataan death march

He was part of it

He told me because we had a Japanese tourist groups that would come in

He hated them
He fricking hated them
He fricking hated them till the day he died

Don’t preach to me you piece of shite

frick you and frick you and frick you

And frick all of you that can’t understand a very simple point.

Peace to all

P.S.

I really like Toyota vehicles

Oh frick off. Even in the Battle of Stalingrad where it’s a bad guy vs bad guy battle, I am outraged by the civilian and military casualties in that battle. If you aren’t, then you aren’t human.

We bombed the frick out of hundreds of thousands of Japanese civilians and cities

Then watch this movie, which I and many others think is the saddest movie ever made: Grave of the Fireflies. Warning: it’s an hour and a half of two kids slowly starving to death due to the Kobe fire bombings. Not a spoiler since that’s the first line of the film to brace you for where this story is going. It gets even sadder when you find out it’s largely based on a true story, except in real life the older sibling barely survived and then made the movie in tribute and trauma for failing to save his little sister. You can feel sympathy for people affected by war and loathe those responsible for it at the same time.

Isn’t that the main objective of war? Making your enemies want to quit?

frick you..

My dad hated them as well..until he got to know them after the war. He said it was then that he realized that people are people...all over the world.

I've known some old guys that felt the same as your friend, because the only experience they had was in combat against Japanese soldiers.

But regardless, your attempt to compare the actions of the US in WW2 vs what the Russians are doing in Ukraine is one of the dumbest fricking things I've ever read on the board..

Which is saying something considering there was a "Q" thread that went on for years and then magically disappeared. ..lol.

Some one needs to preach to you..or perhaps a lecture is what you need. Find a local Jr College and maybe sit in on some classes about WW2..perhaps your dumbass will learn something

It's the breathtaking short memory and hypocrisy that's hard to understand.

This is the board that LIVES to say shite like "If America is so racist and bad, why are a bunch of black people still literally dying to get here."

But now, all of a sudden, America ISN'T exceptional. America ISN'T on balance a place for net good.

The invasion so far resulted in death of less than 1000 civilians. That's a month of pretty brutal fighting. I hate to minimize it, but that's peanuts for a war of this scale.

Civilian casualties are terrible. But the US has been a war machine with basically a high score on civilian casualties since the 50-60s. WWII was different in my opinion.

Columbia, well we did use "advisors" to start some shite and help the northern part of Columbia break off and form its own country called |Panama, so we could dig a ditch that the columbians did not want.

Most central american countries under the guise of democracy. The middle east for a century, the far east for just as long.

And we knowingly and willingly killed millions of civilians, war crimes my arse.

The number of collateral deaths is in the millions and millions just in the last 20 years, especially when you consider some of the sanctions, which kills far more than any military

You mean the partisans that the Ukrainian government is arming? Or do you mean the ones making IEDs and Molotov cocktails? The non-combatants left the Ukraine already. Those left are either helping the war effort or actively chose to stay knowing their government expectations are to fight.

They made the choice and it’s the same one that millions have made before them and that millions here would make. But let’s not pretend they are non-combatants at this point. You can’t celebrate them fighting and simultaneously cry when they die in combat.

My common sense tells me he is speaking of today not a hundred years ago. We have precision weapons now.
