Florida is a classic example of what happens when voting is cleaned up

First, keep in mind demographics. After the hurricane in Puerto Rico there was a huge influx to central Florida. PRs now make up 1.3 million of the population in Florida and they typically vote liberal (though it is shifting).

Florida was a toss up state for many years.

DeSantis gets elected and has worked very hard at cleaning up the illegal nonsense.

Even with the influx of liberal PRs and the migration of liberals from across the country......Trump won the state by 13 points or 30% more votes.

So you tell me, did Florida fall head over heels for Trump........or were the republican votes there all along?

And the mess in Florida was nothing compared to Cali, NY, Ill, etc.

DeSantis is a top tier governor, cleaning up the voting was one of his best initiatives. We were this close having a damned closeted meth head as governor thanks to the cheating.

This post right here is exactly why the Republicans should push this through. With secure elections some would be shocked at how the percentages would shift.

I think he'd make a rather fine president as well. He seems to have a strong grasp on running the executive branch to great effect.

Eh, you're alleging this caused a huge influx of liberal votes. Turnout amongst Puerto Ricans in Florida is low.

To your larger point, yes, DeSantis did a great job cleaning up the mess (largely South and not a central Florida-driven issue).

Wish this administration would had done the same.

Blaming China while playing footsie with Xi Jinping is strange look.

You don't have to fight Globalists at the State legislature level.

Trump is fighting people in his own party who are going against the will of those who elected them.

The Globalists had their money laundering shut down when Trump nixed USAID and they ain't happy.

I was in a Costco in NYC in the nut aisle and was discussing Iran tariffs on pistachios and how the cost had doubled cause they used to be big exporters. Cali who hates Trump voted for the tariffs cause pistachio farmers in cali were now making bank.

He said, you are a Trump supporter. I said yes I am. Big African fella calls his wife honey, honey come here (Im thinking its gonna be a brawl on aisle 3). He then says "he is one of us". Looks around and says "there are a lot more of us than you think, we just cant be vocal here in the city".

Its not like Trump has not tried.

I give DeSantis credit, but its also a lot easier when the state is very red and majority of local legislators are republican.

A few orgs studied the turnout for new arrivals after Maria and it was around 25%. I think both NALEO and the CENTRO independently came to about the same conclusion. I guess that would have been based on 2018 data. It would be interesting to see where that is at now but I think the usual trend for those making the jump to the mainland is about 50% turnout after 4 years of settling.

He wouldn't have to if so many conservatives hadn't sold out the country for the past 40 years in the name of the "free market."

When you put an ideology over the good of the country, you're forced to play footsie with the communists who control your pharmaceuticals and critical infrastructure components.

Stop blindly doing what your preferred ideology tells you to do, and do what is best for the average American instead. We would be much more prosperous and stable, but too many conservatives will cry about doing anything outside the framework that tells them what to think.

Interesting Jort. Numbers I saw showed that they were also moving more republican as well as voting in general.

Amazing, move from a corrupt shathole and after a few years in a well run state suddenly think, maybe we should keep this going.

We only became very red the last few years. Desantis took over a purple state and transformed it to one of the most red.

For a while Republicans seemed like they were okay losing. Hell, they probably thought Trump was going to lose. That's why some of them were so pissed he won.

He's also pro Israel and loses elections. So no one can vote for him again according to you.

Agreed Bass. Its like my anecdote in NYC. I dont think they would go red, but they certainly would not be as deep blue as people think.

And its "baked in" in cities like chicago, and over time people just believe the city has that many people voting democratic and does not question it.

Similar to the "myth" that democrats overwhelmingly vote absentee and late..........well aint that special, particularly in areas that take days to count, or counting rooms are closed to the public in the middle of the night.
