FEMA sold a bunch of houses that were supposed to be allocated for families in NOLA. There’s at least 15 of em not 10 miles from where I’m sitting right now.

Poor Cameron finally landed that cabinet position and quickly figured out how lucrative this FEMA job could be if he colors within the lines, dude was wanting to settle into the luxury coach on the DC Gravy Train.

I don't understand the hate for Hamilton. Former Seal. By all accounts, had done a great job at FEMA. Recognized what a disaster FEMA had become.

He was very deferential to President Trump. He prefaced his remarks by saying it was his role to advise President Trump and Secretary Noem:

The money will be distributed to the states. FEMA is not s first responder. They distribute funds, develop flood models etc. USACE can run the modelling and local people determine how to best help people.

But I know, they did such a crackerjack job in North Carolina and Tennessee.

FEMA told Sarah Huckabee Sanders no when she asked for money after the tornado’s and flooding in Arkansas, but they said yes to Missouri.

FEMA withdrew an extension to North Carolina for the flooding cleanup that they promised last year.

There’s a lot of people not happy with FEMA. My dad worked with FEMA for 3 weeks helping cleanup and delivering food. He said they were great. They were cleaning up damage from a tornado when the same small town was flooded a week later.

Tornado took out the lights and dugouts from a baseball field. A week later the field they cleaned up was under 2 to 3 feet of flowing water.

True.

FEMA task force teams are made up of people from cities and towns in every state in the country: paramedics, firefighters, engineers, divers, equipment operators, search and rescue specialists, etc. They're all normal, evvery day people from the towns that are impacted by natural disasters. When help is needed teams of varying specialties are dispatched from every state in the country to the disaster zone(s).

You want to effectively institute change that is tangible? Gut the administrative levels of FEMA and roll that money to these people doing work on the ground.

Having had my "assets" destroyed in the past...what do you think FEMA did to help me?

Because the answer is nothing.

Did you apply for assistance?

I know that FEMA sent my aunt a check 2 or 3 months after a flood and it covered about half of the damage. She said her insurance company told her to apply for assistance from FEMA. I’m not sure how much her insurance covered.

Trump just gave a couple billion dollars to NC. I’ll bet your liberal news sites didn’t tell you that.

I don’t know anything about the guy but it sounds like there may have been trust issues. They gave him a lie detector test about six weeks ago to determine if he’d leaked information from a private meeting with Kristi Noem. Seems like an odd thing to do but Trump 2 admin has made it very clear they learned from the constant leaks the first go round. He passed the test but (if you believe anonymous sources in a Politico article), may have still been disgruntled.
quote:

Although Hamilton is in charge of the nation’s leading disaster agency, he appears to have little control over decisions affecting FEMA, including whether to shrink or abolish the agency. Hamilton has expressed frustration to FEMA colleagues, said multiple people, granted anonymity to discuss private conversations.

Politico link, for what it’s worth

He doesn’t sound like a bad guy from the little I’ve read about him. He didn’t have emergency management experience though and it sounds like maybe he didn’t get the memo on what his role was intended to be. He wasn’t appointed as administrator or deputy administrator, he was made acting administrator. I’m spitballing here but it sounds like Trump may have put him in there as a placeholder to fill the role while they figured out how to transition FEMA out and transfer responsibility to the states. Maybe Cameron didn’t fully understand that this was supposed to be a temporary role and was frustrated when he was trying to run the agency as if it would be continuing.

No, they don’t.

You better tell Donald that, because he still has FEMA clearing debris in North Carolina with the government (FEMA) footing 90% of the bill now. It was 100% until the March 27 deadline.

ETA: And that is 20% more than the Fed government (FEMA) usually pays beyond the six month window.

What does that have to do with FEMA? It was a grant and all comes from the federal govt. I can believe the stupidity on this board. Well, I can actually.

Please list the FEMA directors that can prevent hurricanes from forming. I’ll wait.

Thanks for that. Makes sense.

I didn't know anything about him until today. I was impressed with his testimony yesterday.
