Dr. Anthony Fauci, the government's top infectious disease expert, said Monday that the White House coronavirus task force aggressively lobbied President Trump to extend social distancing guidelines another month as the U.S. grapples with the fallout of the novel coronavirus pandemic.

"We felt that if we prematurely pulled back, we would only form an acceleration or rebound of something, which would put you behind where you were before, and that’s a reason why we argued strongly with the president that he not withdraw those guidelines," Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said on CNN's "New Day."

"And he did listen," Fauci added.

The new narrative. OMB they had to 'argue strongly.'

Dr. Fauci didn't have to advertise this and then twist it by saying, HE LISTENED to them. As if it is a smiley face after dissing Trump...

This should be seen as a plus for Trump, but it will be twisted into a negative.

You mean they had a point/counterpoint discussion that happens in offices all around the country every day in which the point with the odds of the best outcome won the day?

Say it isn't so.

"TRUMP ARGUED WITH THE DOCTORS AND WANTS TO KILL US ALL!!! REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!"

It will be twisted into "Saint Fauci had to beg the unhinged Trump to not ruin this country."

Yep. Trump should be considering the tremendous economic consequences, and weighing that against the medical consequences. Fauci made the better argument for now.

This Deep State piece of shite should have been fired over the weekend for his 100,000-200,000 projection. One should never discuss what goes on in these meetings.

I can’t shake the feeling that Fauci and other doctors/scientists want to keep this going as long as possible.

This is their Super Bowl. Basically a huge experiment that they have control over. Their life’s work has led them to this moment and I doubt they want a politician telling them, “Nah frick these measures.”

Idk, maybe I’m just projecting my cynicism.

Good. They should have had to. Leadership is not just going with what one group or another thinks.

I hope the guys at treasury and elsewhere were arguing strongly to open things back up.

The sign of a healthy organization is vigorous debate at the top level, then choosing a direction and everyone stands shoulder to shoulder after that.

People are dying. No medical professional / scientists wants to see people die unnecessarily.

We should all be thankful that Fauci is on the task force. Medicine men and women need to be calling the shots a healthy country and world is what will bounce the global economy back.
