I would disagree on the baiting aspect since she clearly acknowledged that she was meeting with admin the next day with documentation. Obviously this wasn’t unexpected of the class activity and why student felt the need to object

These students didn’t sign up for an LGBTQ studies course — they signed up for a children’s lit course (which is a required class in the education/teaching certificate degree plan).
It’s long past time that the bullying and harassment from the left that takes place in higher ed comes to a full-on stop.
This student was brave and acted entirely appropriately. Hopefully she is the first of many students to stand up to this bullshite.

It’s non-normal folks trying to find belonging by trying to expand the definition of normal.
When I first saw the video, I thought the girl in it was being obtuse to a general discussion on sexuality (seems like it’d be covered in an abnormal psych or sociology class). Learning that this was a children’s literature class, makes me take her side more. The professor could have easily avoided the topic, but felt compelled to include it in the curriculum. If it’s in the curriculum, and just there to facilitate discussion on the topic, I’d side with the prof, but the slide claiming definitiveness instead of debate is shitty teaching in my opinion. I don’t think the professor ran afoul of any laws (even the sweeping stuff that passed the Texas legislature this summer), but it’s still a bad look for the department and university.
I am not looking forward to the bullshite fights this is going to start in faculties. Science and engineering is a bit insulated from that dumb stuff, but it does get pushed on us by other faculty.

In an ideal world, I’d be aligned with this thought process.
Unfortunately we crossed the Rubicon into something else completely a good while ago and I’m okay with the mentality that the gloves are off.
