Are you sure? I'm saying that 100% of knowledgeable Christians would tell you that Allah and the Christian God were not the same entity.
If that was your intent, I misunderstood you. Apologies.

The Texas military? Yes.
A State that ran a 4.6 billion dollar deficit, while receiving about 27 billion in federal funds.

Yeah, I dont know how that military will make it

You don’t have to.
I was honestly answering your question.
I don’t trust the US government not to take up arms against its citizens.
In which case I would not serve under such a flag.

Pettifogger, my family has been sitting on the same piece of Texas dirt thru four different national governments (Mexico, Republic of Texas, US and CSA). It would have been five, but Mexico won its independence from Spain before we could get here. We ain't leaving.

Good. You’ll be their problem and not ours anymore.

Well, if the Feds keep up their harassment of citizens I am sure many will stop saying the pledge.

Pledge allegiance to Jesus instead. Not to this evil government.

Fargo used to be a quaint place. Now it’s Minneapolis West.

Are we living in the 1960's? No? How about we deal with today's bullshite then? We have been reciting the pledge with "under God" for generations. people like you want it changed or abolished from the public sphere. Funny how your comrades are the very ones who think public schools should provide a place and time for muslims to pray at school.

And Americans had been reciting the pledge without any religious language for generations prior to that. It humors me that religious folk fight to have their religion injected into things that shouldn't have religion, and then somehow think everyone else is unreasonable for taking the position of "hey, how about we go back to the way it was before?"

But it doesnt. It is a pledge of allegiance to America. The same America that provides the highways he drives on, the military that keeps him safe, the immigration folks that processed his paperwork and supports the farmers that feed his arse.

So how about, you just stand up, put your hand over your heart and say a little thanks.

I agree, they should have just removed under God and kept the pledge.

But my point remains, people would agree with the outrage if you change the name of the deity.

You can talk about the relative recency of pledge adoption and "under God" verbiage, but it was probably well in place by the time anyone offended by this got here.

So don't avail yourself of something that already exists and then try and dismantle it because you don't like it.

Now apply that logic to the federal government's stance on abortion.

Wrong is wrong, hiding behind precedence doesn't make it right.

Back in elementary school in north Louisiana, there was a kid who left the room every morning just before the Pledge( He had a continuing excuse for religious reasons, maybe Jehovah's Witness family. It was no big deal to the class or the school

So "tolerance" and "inclusivity" dictates that it is necessary to exclude the mere mention of God in the pledge or do away with the pledge altogether. Am I understanding you correctly?

No, you aren't understanding me correctly. You're not even attempting to understand me. You're just being a disingenuous twat who's putting quotations around words I've never used.

I'm against 'under God' being in the pledge because I see it as a violation against separation of church and state. Disagree with the idea that that's what the founding fathers wanted all you want, but don't put words in my mouth.

quote:

Abortion is murder, so.

So, you shouldn't always rely on precedence? If that's your stance, why did you only mention precedence as a defense to keep the pledge the way it is?

quote:

You don't have to. All you have to do is not oppose it, because it is happening in public schools all over.

I'm also vocal in my opposition to the phrase 'under Allah' being added to the pledge.

Face it, you have no idea what my stances are. You're just upset I'm opposing your deity's presence in our nations pledge.

Right. Because it's not like having to know which gender a 6 year old has decided to be that day, so you know which pronouns to use for them is being shoved down our throats or anything, huh?

I can start you a list if you'd like. Do you really want to go there?

No, what's getting you is two little words in the pledge. Two little words, which you have applied a standard only found in a letter by Thomas Jefferson, to declare it offensive to your own personal sensibilities. Two little words that does absolutely nothing to establish a state religion, nor prohibits its free exercise. Two little words in the Pledge of Allegiance that makes you think it should be removed from the public sphere.

Meanwile, we are told to accept and tolerate shitting, shooting up, and people fricking in public. We should be inclusive to men and boys sharing a bathroom and showers with our girls. We should understand the need of transsexual people and sexual deviants of all kinds to groom our kindergarteners into at the very least acceptance of their depravity. I can go on, but you stopped listening long ago, if you ever did.
