You can keep waving your hands around telling us how Christian the general population was, their vision for our government is crystal clear. The phrase 'under God' goes counter to that vision.

I'll quit waving my hands as soon as one of you tells me how the phrase "under God" violates that vision, or the First Amendment in any way. If not, you should tolerate it the same way everyone else is expected to tolerate crap they disagree with.

Trinity comes from the latin noun 'trinitas", which means 'three are one'. Christians aren't polytheistic, they believe in a singular god. God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are the same being, not three separate gods.
Stephen Prothero describes Christianity as a "soft sort of monotheism," as a result of the Trinity. Scholars of both Judaism and Islam certainly question the "purity" of Christian monotheism.

Other scholars even go so far as to call Christianity a form of henotheism. Personally, I think that term is probably a good description of early Judaism, but not of Christianity.

Let's completely ignore the Pilgrims and Puritans who came to the New World so they could practice their Christianity as they saw fit, right?

Yes. Let's focus on the Constitution, and the Founding Fathers who went out of their way to ensure religious independence endured.

Because it outright states that our government is 'under God' in some fashion.

How can America not be founded on Christianity in any sense, but also somehow be under the authority/supervision/whatever of that god?

Since when does nation = government?

Hang on a second, my eyes just rolled out of my head. Okay, it’s more like one nation, under the blessing of God, etc. Under the authority or supervision? Really? Can you look a little harder for something to be offended about? I’m not sure.

Do you recite the pledge at the start of all your work meetings?
I would love to and would have been pissed if it was standard and immigrants came in and changed it.

That's easy when there's nothing behind the eyes.

And you just said it’s easy when your head is empty, so I assume you have experience. My dad can probably beat up your dad too.

Or would you rather talk about your whole rationale being dogshit?

Have you heard/read the sermon that inspired Eisenhower to officially add 'under God' to the pledge?

I suppose you also think 'In God We Trust' doesn't run counter to the idea that this nation wasn't founded, in any sense, on the Christian religion either...

Still waiting on a plausible scenario that makes “under God”, and I’ll include “In God We Trust” violate the First Amendment in any way.

Get your eyes back in your head and something to keep them there and we'll talk.
