Happy Monday

quote:

“Our father, Eugene Stoner, designed the AR-15 and subsequent M-16 as a military weapon to give our soldiers an advantage over the AK-47,” the Stoner family told NBC News. “He died long before any mass shootings occurred. But, we do think he would have been horrified and sickened as anyone, if not more by these events.”

quote:

Eugene Stoner, an ex-marine and the rifle’s inventor, never used his AR-15 for sport, kept it for personal defense, or even owned one. His family said he made millions by using his design, but only for military sales.

“After many conversations with him, we feel his intent was that he designed it as a military rifle,” Stoner’s family explained, saying that their father wanted to make the “most efficient and superior rifle possible for the military.”

Pretty irrelevant. All sorts of things get used in ways they weren't necessarily intended.

True story: My grandpa got a PHD in laser physics and designed laser guided weapons for the US Navy.

That being said I can’t speak about any of Those weapons just because a family member designed them...what I would say wouldn’t mean shite

A mass shooting could just as easily happen with a couple of 12 gauges full of buck shot.

ETA: My point being that hunting rifles and shotguns not explicitly designed as military weapons can be just as dangerous in the wrong hands. I’m not advocating for gun control, I just think the military grade argument is a ridiculous aspect to focus on.

Good. That suggests it's an excellent weapon for a citizen's defense.

Thanks to him for making such a solid rifle

Finally got a chance to pick one up and break it in and it shoots like a dream.

This is absolutely correct but what we now know as an ar15 was created by Colt not Stoner. So they can frick off.

The inventor of the .gif says it's pronounced "jif". That doesn't make him right...

The 2nd Amendment is OK with that.

Yeah, but you probably couldn't kill 17 in 5 or 6 minutes with a couple of 12 gauges full of buck shot.

Washington Navy Yard shooter (13 total dead) used Remington 870. That's not even a semi-auto shottie, baw... Pump action, with 7 shells max, depending on the version.

Although I believe he did kill 1 or 2 with a Beretta handgun as well.

Against soft, crowded targets?

You better believe it.
