The amount of downvotes in this thread makes me think this country really is toast lol.

It’s disturbing the amount of low knowledge, low expertise sheep that refuse to use their brains or try critical thinking, but at the same time are absolutely convinced they are right.

The Collapse: An Engineer's Perspective

Just a couple excerpts;

"A professor of materials engineering and engineering systems at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Eagar went on to write an influential paper in the journal of the Minerals, Metals, and Materials Society entitled "Why Did the World Trade Center Collapse? Science, Engineering, and Speculation" (JOM, December 2001). In this interview, Eagar explains the structural failure, what can be done within existing skyscrapers to improve safety, and what he believes the most likely terrorist targets of the future may be."

"Eagar supposes, contrary to all evidence, that the fires at the World Trade Center on September 11 were so incredibly hot that the Bar Joists
(changed from "trusses" & emphasis added by me) softened and failed as indicated in the animated graphic. It is of utmost importance to his theory, that the fires were considerably hotter than your average office fire, as your average office fire was (by law) considered and planned for by the building designers and, of course, they designed a structure that would not collapse in such a fire."

"On February 23 1975, their design was put to the test. For on that day an intense fire broke out on the 11th floor of the north tower of the World Trade Center. The fire subsequently spread down to the 9th and up to the 19th floor, but this fire did not cause failure of the trusses (or any other major structural feature)."

Massive amounts of weight must be distributed in a perfect structural form...otherwise it cascades into a domino effect with each domino exponentially increasing the force of it's momentum and mass.

Now if you are implying conspiracy 'actors' outside of bin Laden's purpose...I have no idea if such occurred. But given what we have witnessed from our supposed altruistic 'Leadership' in the last few years, I would not take anything off the conspiracy table. The Leadership deserves ZERO trust as they cya out the wazoo doing their 'national security' dance. The 'government' now has become THE national security threat, as it turns on the very (Constitutional) Freedoms which it purports to serve.

Herding cats coming.

The dang person who designed the building knew it was going to collapse the second he saw what happened!

So many simpleton idiots, so many pretend to believe the absurd.

I have no problem going down conspiracy rabbit holes. But the planes hit the towers and it caused them to collapse.

Think if it this way? Why would they even needed to fake the plane crash if it was really a bomb that did it? Then the story could be the terrorists had used a bomb.

I think the feds had some flickers on their hands with all the events surrounding 911, but the crash and collapse were real.

I always attributed it to the beams being structurally damaged by the plane.

Easily, go look at a pressure/temp chart for steel pipe

Twofold answer:

Columns are sized to carry two floors, as that’s the max on a truck. Columns are attached at three points: top, middle, bottom - to the floor beams, and are covered with intumescent foam, a spray on product designed to delay fire damage to steel.

The impact knocked the foam off the steel (specifically, the aforementioned joints) rendering them succeptible to fire damage. When the joint at the center of the column failed due to fire damage, and gave way, then that column could and did then carry one-fourth of its original design weight. It failed.

At that point, you might ask “ why didn’t the building collapse down to the point where this condition (joint failure at center column point) then stop?” And the answer to that is simple - the columns were designed to carry static loads, not dynamic. If you stood on my shoulders, my knees are designed to support your weight, if you jump off the roof onto my shoulders, my knees fail.

Hope this helps.

This

The simplest way I could explain it..place 10lb weight on a coke can..it will support it. Now take the weight and hold it 1ft above the can, then drop it. The Can will get crushed flat.

When the beams gave, the 20+ floors above came straight down and flattened the floors below the impact zone.

Fascinating question. Amazing that no one has ever asked it in the past.

Put a piece of steel in a diesel fire and leave it there for an hour. Take it out and hit it with a sledgehammer. Let us know what happens.

Jet fuel and diesel burn at different temps.

Everyone knows airplanes crash and incinerate into nothing.

Who told you that? Pieces of the fuselage, seats, engines, and landing gear were found all over lower Manhattan near the crash site.

They just pulled another piece of one of the planes out from between two buildings during a renovation a couple of years ago.

1) Heat softens steel beams
2) Gravity
That's all it takes.

All of you are wrong!
What caused the Towers to collapse is this:
In a coordinated effort, over 5,000 911 conspiracy theorists gathered on the 75th. floor. At precisely the same time, they all jumped up and down 3 times.
There you have it...

Yes, and it wasn't 'massive steel I-beams" that failed - it was the joint, at the center point of the column, which connected those "massive steel I-beams" to the column.

I have never understood how this controlled demolition was installed and no one noticed. And how many people would it have taken to install an operation of that size. Not only did no one notice, none of the hundreds of contractors it would have taken have written one sentence about it on Twitter.

There were many workers in the towers who reported elevators that went from ground to top floor were out of service for "upgrades" for long periods of time before 9/11 and workers in the building working on them. Sometimes things can be done right under people's noses. This article names names of employees who gave the informtion.

Yes.Go have a look at strength vs temp curve for carbon steel. Good grief.

I believe to create a controlled demo of one of the Trade Centers, one would need to install around 40,000 miles of wiring

Kind of hard to hide

WTC 7 fell because it was demolished on purpose. Buildings don't collapse because the roof was on fire. Charges don't explode in the middle of the structure as evident on the films of WTC 7 unless they were planted.

Airplanes don't plant charges.
