I've been able to vote since 1982 and I've hear this every election as if humanity will end if your side loses. People are wringing heir hands and clutching their people as if America has fallen...

Here's a clue...All that has happened is the GOP lost a mid term election as history shows would happen.

The voters got tired of the GOP sitting on their asses and Trumps bi-polar bullshite and they got their asses spanked for failing to listen to the people.

Trump was more interest in talking about bombing Iran, reflection pools, ballrooms, arches, how "hot" our economy was without addressing simple issues that the average person deals with daily.

People's perception may have not been in sync with reality and the GOP did a shitty job of addressing this issue.

Now the voters put the GOP in time out and got rig of a lot of dead weight. I don't like it but sometimes a reset is needed.

The Democrats will show to America that they were bullshitting about the things they campaigned on to get elected. When the voters catch up to their lies they too will get punished in the next few elections.

Just live your lives and let it play out.

I'm not concerned about the GOP losing the midterms, I'm concerned because of where they lost them and who they lost them to.

Yes a lot can change just in 2 years. The political climate could be completely different and Republicans could regain a lot of ground and win the presidency again, absolutely. But we also have to be mindful of the trends we are seeing, IMO.

Yeah..that was odd. I live in Ga (sadly) and I've seen this coming.

IMO it was a combination of the things I stated in my OP along with bad candidates that Trump picked that played a big part in selecting that played a huge factor.

Only time will tell.

I'm looking forward to seeing for once a truly open Democratic field rather than coronations to see these assholes finally get a proper vetting over the next 2 years.

You be right if they didn’t lose South Carolina, Mississippi, Texas, Alaska, and Kansas. The Senate is lost for 6 years. The country is going to look much different in 6 years and it isn’t 1990 anymore.

Sure it will. Young people will have to live with it. I am taking steps to protect my assets from the socialists. If everything completely goes to shite my wife and I will just leave the country and come back regularly to visit my socialist kids.

Historically speaking you are correct. Win some, lose some, etc. And for the next two years things will change very little for most folks. However if Dems win in 2028 then you may want to reassess your statement because, based on their own words, they pain to systematically dismantle the entire country as we've always know it to install themselves in power forever.

They arent just threatening to raise taxes or increase welfare spending like dems from the past. So I kind of agree with you short term but if they win the next election then life as you know it will soon be over.

Yep..shite happens. This is the result of the GOP and Trump squandering power. It's also evolution. We're a different nation. I wish we were still in the 1980's but we're not. We have to navigate in the world as it currently is rather than the way we want it.

It's kind of like old school coaches that have not learned to handle the Portal and NIL and are quitting or getting fired while those that have learned to embrace the ties are faring better.

The far lefties went to Fox News and other conservative media and sold their stories while the GOP fold didn't go to CNN, MSNOW, etc...

Now the GOP have a many years to recreate themselves into something more modern...

I don't think every loss in elections is the end of our country, or potentially so. This one is very different because, if you haven't noticed, the democratic party has become so radicalized, they openly celebrate the death of an opponent. And they aren't just liberals anymore, they are communists. They have become so corrupt that they will try to make every law they can to make sure they never lose power.

For now, Trump can block them. If they take the presidency in 2028, they will go full throttle to pack the supreme court and lock themselves in. We must pray that this is not allowed to happen. I'm not giving up. This is clearly, however, not just any midterm loss. We are at a crossroads where we either figure this thing out real quick, or we're going to descend into chaos.

But there is actual proof the Dems are a major threat to America. Open borders, major fraud schemes through government funding of USAID and NGO’s, other government programs. Moving us towards globalist policy.

It’s not a mirage or conspiracy theory, it just got stifled when Trump won. The policy they adhere to is in fact an existential threat to our way of life and constitution. Not sure how you can ignore that.

Now they are veering further left.

Agree. I will continue to live my life, build my assets, and work toward retirement. In two more cycles I won’t really give a damn anymore.

It is my children’s problem, and they voted for it.

All true. And while Tuesday was pretty ugly, what actually happened was 25 House seats and 7 Senate seats changed hands, which by historical standards is not a huge thing. For example, Clinton lost more than twice as many House seats in his second midterm. Everything will be ok and the pendulum will continue to swing.

It's different now because of demographics.

None of the millions of Indians or Muslims flooding into this country are ever voting Republican.

They aren't here to assimilate.

You realize people say this every election also right?

Its why we never escape the 2 party system. Every election is "too important to lose" so people bite the bullet, hold their nose, and pick blue or red. Every single time.

The reason that I am not concerned is that absolutely nothing was done when the Republicans had full control of all 3 branches. NOTHING of consequence at all. Nothing put into law that Trump didn't sign an executive order for essentially. So who cares. They squandered a chance to pass real laws and do real damage to progressive ideology for a long time. Who cares at this point.

Your take is correct, except that no matter which side wins, it stays a constant slow demise for Americans. I'm not saying life is hard, but it's not getting better here like it should be for the average citizen, no matter who's in power.

Yep. One potential positive is that with this beat-down, it will for the GOP to change their business model. A lot of people that were gaming the system got voted out.

I would love to get away from the contentious "MAGA" way and move back to a Reagan Republican model were it was okay to work with the other side. I can hope.

this is mostly true

but the caveat is always that we're the normative side and they're the subversive side, so the stakes aren't equivalent

You are wrong now. The numbers simply don’t add up anymore regardless of how many times you and others tell yourself that. You can’t create voters that no longer exist and unless you can magically come up with 10-15 million new conservative voters, and you can’t, it’s over. But hey, better luck next time, amirite?

I read yesterday that this was “the most consequential election of our lifetime” and thought that was 2024.

Fear is a great fundraiser.
