I do hope they can get someone in with the original vision for ESPN and turn it back into the Worldwide Leader in Sports (and nothing else).

We’ll see. My bet is on the opposite

Having to listen to Beth Mowins every Saturday would drive me to the bottle.

OJ Simpson and Ray Lewis. They'd make a killing in the ratings.

Does this mean that they will start talking about sports again and not safety pins for SJW's?

Disney still owns ESPN and the next president of ESPN is still going to be reporting to Bob Iger, so don't get your hopes up.

That doesn't make any sense. Nobody is going to resign like this to get off a "sinking ship". If you have these skeletons, you ride that sinking ship to the bottom because you don't have anywhere else to go.

He most likely is resigning due to an agreement in an attempt to keep certain stories from coming out.

Clay Travis seems to think there's a much bigger story and this substance abuse shtick is just a Spacey tactic.

I love how she tries to throw in all sorts of deep voiced inflections to sound like a man

I won't laugh at him, but I'll laugh at ESPN, and his bosses at Disney who tolerated this worthless frick being in charge of ESPN. I hope the shareholders have some hard questions for Iger about this stupidity.

Awhile back, I listened to the ESPN documentary on DVDs while traveling ... all about their history and stuff....a lot of commentary/quotes from all the "old school" ESPN folks from back in the day.

If I recall ... Skipper is a very long-timer ... I kind of get the impression that Skipper never should have been the ESPN President ... seems like he got over-promoted into a position he could not possibly handle.

I hate to agree with Clay Travis, but he is probably right

I tend to think he probably did some questionable or offensive things associated with a drinking problem (or drugs) and was told that if he resigned quietly his offenses would be buried

Apparently this guy just got a multi-year extension last month too. He probably got drunk and tried to frick an intern, so they'll send him to rehab and make him out to be a victim/hero.

Been there since 1997. Ran ESPN the Magazine, then in charge of all content, then the big boss.

I hope the man gets the help he needs.

ESPN is failing for two reasons.

1) Cord cutting and a lack of effective response to it.

2) They have moved more and more away from pure sports, and most people who like sports don't like this.

This is devastating news about John Skipper. I enjoyed working with him as much as anybody I’ve ever known and our friendship has continued. He’s been innovative and broadminded and I’m literally shaking learning he was in such place. I pray he gets the help and healing he needs.
