Have you been in the place? Its terrible. Of which don't get me wrong, its not supposed to be nice, but it is severely outdated. Yes, I realize it was built for parish use, however, it has to be funded somehow. The only way to fund it without increased taxes, unfortunately is to lease out beds to the state.

I think everyone can agree this casino deal stinks.
If it isn't some truck stop Casino like in St. Helena, and can bring in real jobs and help keep money in the parish, then I'm not against it.

It is amazing to me what voters will support if it means jobs--or they think it means jobs.
They will support corruption as we see here. They will support unlimited spending like many do the film credits.
It's like jobs are a function of government.
If government works to stay small and does not burden it's citizens unduly and does not enrich it's politicians the jobs will come.

Good, they should be intentionally built to be as bad as legally possible.

So let me get this right. You want the taxpayers to fund a new jail so the parish can lease out beds to fund the jail it currently has?
Thankfully the taxpayers are smart enough to not buy into this shite.

Are you willing to support a tax that pays for either remodeling the current jail or building a new one, and paying to fully support only local inmates?

If there is impropriety then by all means it should be held accountable.
Oh and I hate film tax credits. My business is constantly bothered by film productions.

I was born in 1984, so I don't know all of Gordon's history in Tangi as Parish President. However, He seemed like a great guy when I have talked to him. I never got that "lie to get votes" type feel from him. My father in law was a longtime area Land Surveyor before his retirement and knows him very well. Speaks very highly of him. Being from Hammond, and having tons of family in area, I have met Robbie and Carlos. Both guys left a sour taste in my mouth that they may be hiding something or lying to the community. I'm outside Tangi now (Springfield and Livingston is so far away) but I am at a lost of how people I grew up with cannot see the things that are going on in the parish and the state.

I never got that from Robby. Always liked him and felt he honestly just wanted to help do what was best for the parish.
I got that feeling from Carlos every single time I spoke to him. Like all he wants was to find a way to enrich himself and his family instead of what was best for the Parish.

And I know many people who say this. So maybe it's the truth. I just can't explain it though. Something about that man. I don't know. I've only had a dozen encounters with him only a few or so actual conversations. My instinct isn't always right.

Yes I am and did vote for the jail tax. The only property tax I have voted for in decades. We need to keep the thieves in jail. We really need to spin the jail off into an independently run entity that is not under the control of the sheriff.

All parish prisons are run by sheriffs departments. They do not need to be privatized.

Are you equally outraged when Trump rents out his golf carts and hotel rooms to the secret service? Or did you get equally outraged when you found out how much money Nunnguesser made renting out his marina to BP after the oil spill?
So you have absolutely nothing to add to the subject at hand. Good to know. Keep deflecting to others for your crooked arse govenor

Seems a deal has been negotiated to the point it is now public that a developer hopes to build a casino on property at the Robert exit on I-12. This land is owned by an extended member of the Edwards clan and borders, separated only by the interstate, the land of the JBE campaign treasurer Andy Edwards. Another extended family members recently built an upscale RV park on the other corner at that same exit.
I wonder if someone at the advocate or wafb would do a story on this. I would be interested to see how the public opinion outside of Tangi would feel.

The Advocate did and made no mention of family and friend ties.

That's what I am saying though. I want someone to make a report on what you said.. not that a casino is coming.

If Stephanie Grace and the other editorial writers ignore this then they lose all creditabilty with me.

One correction—they r using a license they purchased and not the one that has never been issued.

Without the political approval boost of enriching the Edwards clan, wouldn’t it make more economic sense for the casino to relocate in the I-10/Lake Pontchartrain area of Slidell?
Short stop Mississippi and geographically central to larger population base?
This may have been addressed pages ago but it’s Sunday, my lazy day.
