No he was a relatively wealthy man when he ran.
He is a good guy and never abused the Parish government.
Miller ran the first time he ran promising to borrow money and raise taxes to pay for it. Burgess never raised a tax.

I'll have to find it, it was some time within the last year or so.

Need a link. There is an explanation for that if it happened.

I will say the Ponchatoula police is much more professional that the Sheriff's department.

It did happen, I'm searching for the article. Basically there were people on the payroll that no longer worked for the parish that he ended up cutting. I want to say it was shortly after he hired Joe Thomas as CFO.

I'll say a handful on each department are professional. The rest not so much. The Captain they have with the cowboy hat at PPD is a bonafide idiot.

Better funded also. That is why I say the only reason Bry wants to be Sheriff is because of family legacy.

You talking about Melvin?

Different kind of funding. TPSO is a much larger department with less overall funding.

1985, me a 10th grader at PHS. I am sitting at the light in front of the Catholic Church waiting for it to turn green. I get rear ended by a drunk. Comes and goes through the motions of writing it up and putting the drunk in the back of the car. I go a few days later the get a report for my insurance and I find out the drunk was never really arrested he was let go. The Officer working the accident was him. Not sure who was responsible for the release this was 4 Chief's ago

Sure, just saying per officer or resident PPD is better funded and has newer equipment. Also I that we are the only city in the parish that is actually in the black.

TPSO is always updating their equipment. The jail is about the only thing really outdated, but that's honestly on the parish as a whole.
I'm pretty sure Hammond operates in the black.

I think everyone can agree this casino deal stinks.

on the surface I am not perticularly against it. Just like the deal with the plant at the port. I want all of the info before I make my mind up. But it certainly gets my attention when you know who owns that land and who is in local and state political offices.

Not sure, I just know I saw a speech by Zabbia awhile back and he was touting Ponchy as being the only city in the parish that was not in debt.
