BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
The East Baton Rouge Metro Council is poised this week to consider annexing into the city more expensive real estate in the southeastern part of the parish.

City-parish leaders say the property owners approached them requesting to be annexed into the city. The properties include most of the land around Siegen Lane Marketplace, Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club. The property involved is appraised at almost $7 million so the annexation will not be helpful to the people who still harbor hope of reviving the St. George incorporation.

Such a scam. Using gerrymandering to annex only commercial property to sabatage the St. George movement.
They cannot annex more whites into the city limits because that would put them in violation of the federal voting rights act despite the fact that they have a unified city/parish government. It's insane. It's nothing but a f&%k you to the residents of the unincorporated (read Occupied) territories and the St. George Fire Department.

That's why they're only annexing commercial property. No people, no problem.
The fact that it has to be approved by DOJ is insane considering that the government is parish-wide not city-wide. Other than determining fire and police protections, where the city limits are is meaningless.
