Prehistoric Irish people were dark skinned and had blue eyes, a new documentary claims.

The hunter gather population that lived in Ireland 10,000 years ago do not have any of the pigmentation profiles associated with light skin.

They inhabited the island for 4,000 years before being replaced by settled farmers.

The information is contained in a documentary about the Burren in Co Clare broadcast on RTÉ on Sunday.

According to TCD geneticist Dr Lara Cassidy, techniques normally used in forensic criminal investigations have revealed surprising details about prehistoric Irish people.

Scientists have been developing a genetic database of ancient Irish genomes from all periods of pre-history to understand how the modern Irish gene pool came about.

She said the hunter-gatherer Irish not only had dark skin, but also bright blue eyes – a combination rarely seen today.

The article doesn't say how the "scientists' made this determination other than later migrations from Turkey and what is now Eastern Europe. I guess millennia of dower weather and Irish whiskey made the natives skin lighter and hair redder.

What is more interesting is the need to self cuck here. Not normal. Seems psychopathic.

Why does melanin exist in the skin? Have any of these people been to Ireland and not seen sunlight for more than an hour a day for months on end? I can't wait to hear about how the Vikings were dark skinned too. Iceland? Where are all the pale arse people that are from Egypt?

There are large populations in Northern Europe with light eyes, and tan well.

I’m going to make the radical assumption that these people, looked like that, and didn’t look like they were African. So much of this junk is openly political and about presenting the “original Europeans” as not us.

I do wonder about the out of Africa theory, the Chinese don’t believe it’s true. They have their own theory that man originated in China. With Africa, I wonder if we’re finding fossil records there because it’s easier to find them there.

Doesn’t the Solutrean theory have more merit?

That's probably fair, the Brits have had free reign to search for fossils for hundreds of years in Africa. However, what comes out of China? Almost nothing that I can remember. We find more fossils in the northern plains than China does.

I find it hard to believe that back when we had Pangea, the precursors for humans were not present on most of Pangea? And then when it split apart, there were none in South America, Asia, and only what became Africa? It sounds like a BS assertion to placate academics that don't care about being skeptical.

Blue eyes have evolved with a decrease in exposure of UV radiation as humans moved to northern latitudes. Why would the eyes and skin pigmentation evolve at different times independently of one another?

This makes no logical sense.

I read that as Soul Train theory.

Sorry.

If Solutrean theory is true then that happened 20-25 thousand years ago.

This.

There are some interesting Rabbit Holes and books regarding ancient Irish History.

These 'studies' are proven bullshite. Back when they were claiming the same thing about Brits and others, the very study they cited said that skin color was actually impossible to determine.

No, this is just more immigration/replacement propaganda. These people have needed to overthrow their rulers for a while, but they are defenseless and have been since the 90's, and I think they're mentally defeated/brainwashed now anyway.

I actually played Xbox with 2 guys who were in that neighborhood. One was an aspiring rapper and the other, his cousin, a Sgt in the Army. They hated that news report: We gave them hell over it for a while. Good times.

Irish college girlfriend of mine had jet black hair and crystal blue eyes. When I saw her it was love a first sight. Definitely counts as “the one that got away”.
