Dany Shoham, a former Israeli military intelligence officer who has studied Chinese biological warfare, said the institute is linked to Beijing’s covert bio-weapons program.

“Certain laboratories in the institute have probably been engaged, in terms of research and development, in Chinese [biological weapons], at least collaterally, yet not as a principal facility of the Chinese BW alignment,” Mr. Shoham told The Washington Times.

Work on biological weapons is conducted as part of dual civilian-military research and is “definitely covert,” he said in an email.

Mr. Shoham holds a doctorate in medical microbiology. From 1970 to 1991, he was a senior analyst with Israeli military intelligence for biological and chemical warfare in the Middle East and worldwide. He held the rank of lieutenant colonel.

One of the “Mitch Rapp” books recently called Lethal Agent (Released 9/2019) covered almost this exact scenario. ISIS tries to sneak a “Sars” type virus into the US.

It’s a fictional CIA operative series

The Chinese reaction certainly suggests that. They knew it was bad before it was bad.

I am sue this has probably been discussed. When it rains it pours.

"China has detected an outbreak of the bird flu near the epicenter of the deadly coronavirus, according to a report.

The bird flu outbreak was reported Saturday in Hunan, which borders the province of Hubei where the coronavirus broke out last month, according to the South China Morning Post.

“The outbreak occurred in a farm in the Shuangqing district of Shaoyang city,” officials said. “The farm has 7,850 chickens, and 4,500 of the chickens have died from the contagion.”

The fatal illness — known as H5N1 virus — causes “a highly infectious, severe respiratory disease in birds,” according to the World Health Organization.

The flu can be transmitted to humans, but there have been no reports of anyone with the illness, the outlet said.

The outbreak comes as Chinese authorities work to contain the new coronavirus strain, which has killed more than 300 people."

lol you're right. that was a gross exaggeration of its lethality. Its waaaaaaaaaaay less than half as lethal of a minor flu strain.

Wuhan virus - fewer than 400 deaths WORLDWIDE.
ordinary flu season - 12,000-61,000 avg annual deaths in AMERICA ALONE.

not exaggerated, just accurate. Tuleremia, black plague, literally any influenza, smallpox, anthrax, Coxiella, etc. Thats just off the top of my head. all easier to spread, all much much more deadly than Wuhan and its not really arguable.

Most already assumed this was the case. Glad it is getting some press.

You don't math much, do you? How many have flu vs. how many have coronavirus? It's not the number of deaths, it is the percentage of dead vs. infected.

And what is the RO of each of those? RO of the coronavirus seems to be about 4. Every 1 person infected will infect 4 more.

You just described exactly what you’ve been doing in this whole thread to distract from the fact that you fell for fake news. Sad.

Are we all gonna die this time?

We'll murder more babies in the U.S. this year than this virus will kill world wide.

I know, hard to wrap your head around that.

He said that while ignoring my question about being gullible and searching for things for confirmation bias. He even accused me of being a liberal, or a follower of Chuck, Nancy, and Adam. He's a complete muppet who doesn't even realize he started the shite he accused me of doing. It does explain why he disappeared from this thread though.

He also said some scientist was responsible and gave out his name and address. That’s most likely why he got banned.

The problem with your argument is that you have no measure of how lethal it's been in China. You're accepting reports filtered through the Chicoms, which is not a smart thing to do.

You also can't directly compare the lethality of this coronavirus with influenza in the U.S. because we don't know what the patient mix is in China. Mortality rates for the flu in the U.S. are highly skewed because of the elderly and immunocompromised.

This theory goes something like...Mers or a similar coronavirus was brought to Canada to be studied, stolen by the Chinese scientists who worked there and further bioengineered at the Wuhan lab.

I thought I had already put this “it’s not as bad as the flu” nonsense down. Mortality for influenza is 2 per 100,000. Thus far, it has proven to be far more dangerous than that if you extrapolate the number of infections and deaths to a per 100,000 benchmark...and that’s if you accept Chinese government numbers as fact.

Could be an earlier prototype, a failed attempt, or could out perform other pathogens in ways. Perhaps it survives outside much longer, has a much longer incubation period, or is particularly hard to cure - making it ideal for certain scenarios than those other more lethal natural pathogens. Not saying I'm 100% sure its manmade but your critique doesnt cover many bases/possibilities.
