My little cousin is a Doordash driver, and he tells me most of the drivers in the area are Hispanic and most of them don’t even speak any English at all.

How do they get a license? Insurance? Registration? What is even the point of them being here?

It’s one thing if someone comes here to work construction. That’s a skill that’s in demand and it’s needed. But what is the point of someone coming here and being a Doordash driver? How is that beneficial to our country? Those are jobs that could be done by young Americans, but instead they are being pushed out by middle-aged foreign men who can’t speak a lick of English.

Funny you mention this.

I placed an order for grocery delivery this week, and I scheduled delivery between 7pm and 8pm. I went to run errands, and I got a text that the delivery was "on the way" at about 6:45pm. It included the phone number of the driver.

I immediately tried to call him ... to let him know that I was away from the house but would be back by the scheduled 7pm delivery. He answered the phone and did not speak a word of English. He did not understand a word I said, so he went to my house, waited a couple of minutes and then took my stuff back to the store ... all before the 7pm scheduled delivery.

The problem could have been avoided, if the driver had just spoken English.

In Orlando- the last 3 rides from the airport and at least the last 3 Uber deliveries were all non speaking.

A bit scary on the driving part

We need a separation in the workforce based on voting habits.

I vote conservative, so I get law abiding meritocratic English speaking service.

You vote for progressives? You get affirmative action charity cases and criminal/non-English speakers.

These are the "field workers" Nancy and Chuck said we desperately needed.

You can thank the Open Society foundation and the Koch brother for the mess. Also congress for not ever being motivated enough to clarify our immigration system making it easy for the billion-dollar activist complex to take advantage of the chaos.

Because Biden and Company hope they're future Dem voters by allowing them to flood in.

Hank, you need to select the “leave at door” option.
Won’t matter whether or not you’re home.
Of course, if you purchased alcohol, that’s a moot point.

DoorDash employment is definitely popular amongst those who struggle with English—likely for that very reason (i.e., they can [mostly] work without having to interact with/speak to people).

Interestingly enough, I live in a heavily Hispanic city, and most of my non-English speaking deliverers hail from African or Middle Eastern countries. I certainty see Hispanic deliverers, but not as often as the aforementioned.

Regarding the subject of this thread … one can possess a US Employee Authorization Card (US Citizen and Immigration Services) and not be a citizen.

How close do you live to the grocery store?

ETA: I thought you said that YOU took the stuff back to the grocery store

Is it possible to order groceries and not order a few beers?

Why are they being "pushed out?"

Yeah...I get this pissed when I see any language other than English on a ballot. Citizens can only vote legally (of course) and to be a citizen you must learn and comprehend English. If you can't read and understand an english ballot you shouldn't be a citizen. This would be one of my "king of the day" moves for sure.

States giving illegals DLs should be stopped for sure. And I'm sure most don't have insurance, and if they do they have the kind that will make it easier to use your own policy to get it done.

The founders didn't want to declare an official language.

There is no such thing as an "official language" in this country.

same as the last several generations.
my grandparents all came to usa from Europe.
one of them spoke English as well as anyone.
one of them was always on the farm and spoke three languages better than English but did speak English well enough to be followed. she put Polish as the language spoken in the home in 1920 census. So i got to hear her after two decades of USA.
a year or two from now your driver will be just fine.

How about the non English speakers who have CDLs?

In the regulations, it states that the CDL holder has to speak, read, and understand English. How are they passing the written tests if they can't read English?
