"Systemic racism" is when a black guy gets the side-eye from security in a store because most of the other shoplifters were also black.

"Systemic racism" is not penalizing all Asians -250 points on their SAT scores, just because of the color of their skin. That is something "fair" called "leveling the playing field".

And amazingly, a lot of those institutional and cultural issues are due “well intended” government intervention and policy

yeah i put that in the other thread

in the Civil Rights Era we enacted policies that we thought would fix the problem but created all sorts of other problems that may have led to worse results. the policies have created institutional and societal cultures that are generations old at this point and we see society through these issues.

in response to the failure of these policies, certain groups want to re-shape society within the paradigm of the failed policies and their macro effects instead of admitting the failures. it's probably too hard/costly to start all over again so there aren't real, clear answers.

I have sympathy for AA because large populations in inner cities have a shitty lot in life and I'm perfectly willing to acknowledge that racism plays a part in that.

Really? I acknowledge they have a shitty lot but these large population centers and the lot they have can be directly attributed to who they have elected to run those population centers... So, whose fault is it they make shitty choices over and over?

I still haven't gotten a definition for plain old regular racism. Until I do then I'm going to assume systemic racism is meaningless.

It’s not an honest question from the perspective that she used all the usual buzzwords.

It’s straight-up “when did you stop beating your wife?”.

I do agree that there are issues in the judicial system that unfairly punish blacks more than whites

Not when you actually dig into the specifics. When comparing sentencing you can't compare a California district to a Baton Rouge district. There is a lot that goes into play during sentencing. IE first time offenders vs someone with a mile-long arrest record.

To have a fair white vs. black sentencing comparison it would have to be from the same judge on the same crime with similar criminal histories. To add to that they will have to show the same amount of remorse during their court hearings.

like i said in another thread this morning, you can't eliminate privilege. that concept will always exist.

Human history has been built on tribalism and the survival of the fittest. If you can’t eliminate privilege, then there will always be a type of warfare to gain the upper hand with said privilege.

I don’t think there’s anyway to establish equity in America without losing our identity that is based on race. The black community not only wants to ensure that everyone understands their racial identity but also wants white people to admit that they are the oppressors that need to be overthrown.

I do, but what is the evidence that's what killed this guy Floyd? That's what I can't stand. This might not be an example of the thing everybody can't stand.

We have no idea that these cops don't treat white people who act like he did the exact same way.

Sure, as long as you are willing to understand that just because someone has a different opinion doesn’t mean they are racists who condone murderers. If you’re ready to have that conversation, you have to be willing to have a conversation. Having a conversation entails not yelling, not telling someone what they need to feel, not making baseless accusations, etc.

Poor people generally don't make good choices. It has a strong correlation with criminality and spending behaviors that will keep you poor. America engineered the circumstances that started AA out poor, so I feel like it played a part. That's not to say that throughout the years that individual choices haven't had an effect in fact in ways it's gotten worse. In any individual's life their choices are the biggest determining factor in the outcomes.

I've to applaud the Democrats. They are able to oppress the frick out of urban area blacks..and not be blamed for it.

The public schools in urban areas are fricking atrocious. They are deliberately kept in that state of disarray, so that black youths have to work much harder than others, if they want to learn. Most, will not have the patience to walk through hoop after hoop just to get a legit education. It's the same for people of all skintones if placed in that situation. Once most urban area kids leave school, they are not prepared for anything, because their schools were so horrible. It can definitely lead to struggling, just to survive.

Then Democrats step in, throw out some made up words that let people who are struggling...feel as if it's not their fault, it's the fault of white nondemocrats.

It's ignored that in most urban areas, Democrats are in charge of the city funds, and are responsible for not giving public schools proper funding.

It's just pure oppression...and then somehow convincing the people you've oppressed, to fully support you.
