Let’s go back to Ferguson, MO.
While everyone was focused on the shooting of Michael Brown, the DOJ studied every aspect of policing for the town.
What they found: police specifically targeted black drivers because black poverty was so high. The police would write up additional and bogus charges to the black drivers. Because poverty was so high, black drivers were unable to hire lawyers to fight the charges, which cost them more money.

^ That’s what systemic racism looks like. It’s not crazy or dramatic; it’s slow, dull and monotonous. People focus on shootings, which are awful, while missing the real stuff: the state robbing its own citizens because they can’t hire lawyers to defend themselves.
