The coach sucked and the AD hired him on a shite contract.

Both are now gone.

That’s usually how this works.

There’s a part of me that loves it

Absolutely 100% I do. He's done a masterful job with it.

He has been ham handed about it but in spirit BK was a crappy hire because he was never a fit for LSU.

BTW, I see that Verge is married to a Morial from NOLA. IMO, Verge is a good guy and bleeds purple and gold but politics are at play no matter how you look at it. Welcome to Louisiana

But on the brightside...James Carville maybe burning his LSU gear if that is one positive for the PT Board.

Definitely worth it!

Never having to see that little slimy frick in LSU gear embarrassing every alum on the planet just makes it all worthwhile!!!

He should have discussed the issue privately.

The optics look bad, but I'm going to withhold judgment until after I see the results of the decisions: ie who we hire to coach football and mens basketball.

Woodward's firing was about 3 years overdue, in my opinion.

So you don’t mind scaring off some candidates? If you are not a football fan then ok. But why would you yell at every candidate the limits of the deal ? Save that for negotiations.

Whatever lawyer representing LSU in the negotiation of that contract with BK should be sued for malpractice.

Landry is 100% correct that BK should have been fired and 100% correct that the contract was a shite deal, even if it were privately funded.

The dude has been checked out from the jump, and it demoralized the fan base, the state, and especially the team. If I were LSU the only thing I would have done differently is said - you are terminated for cause, come get your fricking money.

Landry is an inarticulate blowhard and handled the PR TERRIBLY- but he’s completely correct on the merits.

Brian Kelly disgusts me. He has always disgusted me. He should have been fired last season.

The only thing worse than Landry’s inarticulateness about how shitty that contract was for LSU Athletics and the state of Louisiana, are these Panican LSU fans and allies - are these people insisting that LSU will never be able to hire a decent coach. And what if we can’t poach Ole Miss coach who has basically got a son in law on the fricking team.

I am old enough to remember when LSU hired Saban. Every rabid LSU supporter I knew was fricking furious that we didn’t hire Steve Spurrier. WTAF? The man was hungry, new and built a program that brought 3 National Championships, when LSU hadn’t really been a serious contender since the 1950s. We somehow managed to find the greatest college football coach of all time.

Everyone needs to calm the frick down and stop bitching about Landry. LSU needs to find a talented coach in a D2 school or a kick arse offensive or defensive coach already in the system. We don’t need to use our resources, talent base and kick arse program to let another Brian Kelly rest on our laurels and stand on the shoulders of giants with no reverence or appreciation. We didn’t build it for you, BK - you ungrateful dickhead, we built it for ourselves and for the love of the game. Seriously, frick that dude. He is beneath contempt so far as I am concerned.

But why air out all this to the public? Save it for the agents during negotiations. If it scares off applicants what’s the point?

At least the man tackles issues head on. Like his stance or not, Landry is a fighter.

What did he do, specifically, with which you all disagree?

He’s yapping publicly about potential contract terms and creating the impression that the next coach will have to be a direct tool of a politician. He needs to stop yapping and allow the work to be done behind closed doors. Stop making this about Jeff Landry. Go radio silent now.

I don't get it. You had an AD who got bent over by an agent and HC and cost the University tens of millions of dollars on 2 coaches in a row. LSU doesn't have a president at the moment, so the governor stepped in and made sure the AD couldn't screw over the University on the next hire.

Which part was bad?

None of this was bad. Turns out universities are very poorly managed by a bunch of bozos and the adults finally stepped in and figured out a real solution.

Especially if LSU does better in the future, get off the high horse and quit acting like a bunch of babies.

yea he's not choosing the AD, he's just choosing the President who he knows will bring in an AD who won't go against him
