Is this the reason that the vote is Friday?

You realize the Friday vote is just the Judiciary Committee not the full senate, right?

Scheduling a floor vote means they think they do. The committee is up to Flake but irrelevant somce Mitch declared he would call a floor vote regardless.

What exactly does this mean? For those of us who haven’t had a civics class in a decade or 2.

You have to get him out of committee before he can be confirmed by the Senate

No no no. MetaMitch says he's calling a floor vote regardless.

Many of these Senators need to get home to campaign for their seats. Mitch is going to give them an opportunity to leave next week. If they stall again, he will keep them there until Christmas.

The vote is next week.

What does that have to do with anything? I don’t have a fricking clue what that means. That’s the reason for asking questions.

Bills and Nominations go to a committee first and needs a majority vote to come out and be put on the calendar. It lays over 24 hours and then comes to the floor. it then is debated for 30 working hours. The Democrats will attack it,lie about it, and filibuster it the whole 30 hours, then it will be voted on. It will be about Wednesday before the whole Senate will vote on him,up or down. We'll know about Wednesday, not Friday.

Jeff Flake and the flakettes from Maine and Alaska might want to get a bigger boat if they torpedo this.

Things that come out of committee usually insinuates it has the muster to pass the senate. That is one of the reasons they hold a committee vote first. Kind of a feeler how the greater Senate body will vote.

And as the gentlemen just mentioned. Flake better be ready to pack his shite for a permanent vacation if he goes against the vote.

Clarence Thomas had an up or down vote in the full Senate without having a committee vote.
