President Trump's comment about the surprise bombing of Pearl Harbor was an appropriate answer to the dumb snarky question asked by the Japanese reporter.

First of all, that's fricking hilarious.

Secondly, Trump genuinely just doesn't give a frick anymore. The look on her face as he says that, then the audible "hmmm" from her was sort of my reaction too

Hilarious? Yes
Terribly distasteful? Also yes

There was laughter then the audible ummmmm. Was it the PM or a reporter pearl clutching?

I don't think she cared for it too much.

It would've really been funny if she had come back with "Surprise? President Roosevelt knew all about it!"

Watch it closely. She turned to Trump right when he put it to them. Then she turned away as it was going in looking at the press bay. She did mouth some message to them. Watch closely. A slight murmur

A stupid question from a reporter who ought to have known the need for secrecy.

Trump took him out. If anyone else gets offended, tough.

"He doesn't act Presidential!"

Define "acting Presidential" and where has it gotten us over the last 50-60 years?

No way Japan elected her. Japan is a colony of the US.

Modern Japan is so removed from the monarchy that was in place during WW2 that most of them would enjoy Trump's joke as much as us. Japan isn't full of a bunch of snowflakes looking for a reason to be offended.

Not sure about them being amused, but it's telling that there was initial laughter, but late today all the news outlets are whining about it. Definitely manufactured outrage.

Of course the media are going to clutch pearls on selective pseudo outrage.

They wont headline the presentation the Japanese PM did for Baron's birthday tomorrow.

Trivia question: Which Hollywood celebrity gifted Baron with a golden carriage when he was born?
