Now now you also have that Houma woman who was called the scariest political candidate ever.

So far, so good. What's the pitch?

Most people in this thread haven't even stated they are voting for Graves.. Like most, Im undecided but to equate the quality of a convicted felon with someone that has become highly successful without completion of a degree program shows more about you than either candidate. You are either narrow minded or playing the long troll..

The problem is incumbents are very hard to displace. As for some of the comments about Graves, I agree he is very intelligent but I wouldn't call him a "nice guy." He is anything but a concensus builder, and we need folks in Congress who are able to solve problems across party lines. I am not sure who I am going to vote for, but it will not be Graves or Edwards.

I think it stems from the lack of experience from the other candidates and their connection to Jindal. Hence the question on Graves.

So you want your elected official to be an experienced crook?

And I really have no personal animosity in this campaign. I realize people do, it's part of politics. People get worked up. I have seen a Graves on TV and he seems like a likable fellow. (I just wish he would have finished college!)

And, your point is well taken. Thanks.

Yea, the more I read his posts and see him ignoring the answers people have posted, the more I have to agree with this.

If not completing a degree says something about ones ability to meet a goal, what does a federal conviction for racketeering say about one's character?
His response will be "Edwards did his time," which is just ignoring the question.

As someone else asked, would you allow a convicted pedophile watch your children? Of course not.

Why would you allow a man who used his position of power to extort, steal, bribe, etc., back into that position of power?

It makes zero sense. None. Zip. Zilch.

If you think a college degree is something that all candidates should have, fine. Go right ahead.

But don't use that position to attempt to justify your support of a corrupt man.

If you find dropping out of college to be a character flaw but don't find a felony conviction to be a character flaw, you are either a hypocrite of the highest magnitude or corrupt yourself.

Well, there's the deal. Who to vote for. I figure with Edwards, at least we will get entertainment.

With anybody who promises change or good government, I usually get dissappointment.

It appears that many are afraid to address the fact that this candidate apparently did not finish college. I think that's a big deal. You may not. As the employer (voter) it matters to me. Why does it not matter to you?

It matters way less than a candidate with a college degree that used his elected office to commit illegal acts for personal gain, and was convicted of doing so. So the real question is why being a felon would not eliminate a candidate from getting your vote, but simply not finishing college would?

This is what I want to know. Also, there are other, non-felon college grads in the race

Say being a felon does eliminate a candidate, in my book. Now what?

Then Claitor seems like the most logical choice since McCollough has a felony (pot) and I don't know about Whitney's qualifications.

Maybe I'll look into him. Not sure about Whitney. So many people running and I know so little about them all.

Here's my rundown:
Edwards: crook
Graves: Jindal Crony, opposes levee board suit against oil companies
Dietzel: inexperienced empty suit, Vitter Plant to keep Graves from a runoff
Claitor: ok, experienced, but a little on the Neo-Con side
McCollough: ok (I couldn't care less about pot use), Libertarian ideas
Whitney: Tea Party, but no real credentials or ideas, evangelical

my theory on

is that he/she is most probably a plant for one of Graves' opponents trying to stir shite up by inquiring about Graves when he/she already knew the answer, but playing the innocent idiot card.

That's more dire than my simpleton view of it. So what's your deciding factor?

I'm probably going to support the Libertarian in the primary, knowing he won't win, and then vote for "not Edwin Edwards" in the runoff. Assuming Craig McCullough doesn't make it, I hope Claitor makes the runoff against Edwards and wins. He seems like a candidate that I could live with.

That's a good plan and a good list. I think I might just have to adopt it too.

Although Graves seems to be coming on strong. Maybe it's just signs.

Edwards was convicted of crimes after leaving office, not stealing from constituents.
The conviction came after leaving office, but when were the crimes committed? They were committed while he was Governor of Louisiana. Edwards was convicted of taking bribes to secure gaming licenses from specific individuals and/or groups of individuals. Denying others equal opportunity to those limited gaming licenses was stealing from those others. To that extent Edwards did steal from his constituents. Not necessarily money, but opportunity.

Edwards was convicted of some crimes, but do you really believe he did not commit other crimes, or misuse his office to benefit himself, family members and friends? Do you think Edwards has reformed? The man is 87 years old. Do you think he fears punishment at this point such that it would discourage him from corrupt acts?

Thank you. I'm a small government R who never quite forgave the state GOP for what they did to the Paul delegates at the state convention in 2012, so I like voting for Libertarians whenever possible just to f&%k with them
