NEW: Sen. Tommy Tuberville says Sen. Lindsey Graham called his scheduler after returning from an overseas trip, saying, "Listen, I'm having chest pains. I need to do something."
When asked, "Did you call 911?" Graham replied, "No, that's the reason I called you." The scheduler then called 911, and first responders forced entry into Graham's home.
Axios also reports Graham said, "I can't die now. I still need to do the Russia sanctions, get Iran sorted out and do Israeli-Saudi normalization."
I don't know if Axios can be trusted here, but if so that gives me some measure of respect for him in his dying moments. Concerned about what he still needs to do for his country. Whether I agree with what he says or not.

I can’t imagine the mindset of going 3rd party to arrange emergency medical help.
I guess he was thinking “No way, dude… just heartburn” or something equally in the realm of denial.
He’s my senator- but I’ve learned more of him in his death than I knew before his passing- maybe he wasn’t the boogeyman after all. It still feels unreal.
CSB- my daughter served him his Chick fil A once- she’s not exactly a conservative (yet), but said he was very nice.

After his parents died, Graham formally adopted his little sister. He isn't the boogieman many want him to be.

He should’ve just called 911 in that situation.
It’s hard to know what happened as now it will be used as an agenda. Which is just as fricked but normal operating procedure for DC.

A sobering reminder that every waking moment on this Earth is truly a gift.
Tomorrow is promised to no one.
And I’m as guilty as anyone of not reminding myself of that near as often as I should.

Right. Sounds like denial and panic. Hard to predict how people will react to things like that. Shock plays a part in it too and leads to poor decisions. I've been there myself actually. Not a heart attack, but a very serious medical issue.

Could it be that perhaps he was on the he just happens to be on the phone for other reasons and then started having pains and that person became concerned - as opposed that he contacts someone who works for another senator to call 911?
I don’t know Ms. Lindsey but it seems like he was making a bit of a joke - that sounds like his sense of humor to me

I heard Lyndsey Graham called Mitch McConnell for 20 minutes before having his heart attack...
Please tell me you're not eating this BS up are you?

Who says this as they’re dying?

Nobody but if anyone would say it it’s Graham. That’s why it’s kind of believable but not really

He caught a lot of shite but I met Graham twice and he was very friendly and genuinely seemed to listen to you. I always felt that we had two good senators with him and Scott.

frick elite. If I'm having chest pains I'm calling 911.
Given I'm able to.

I don't think he was as bad as many of us, notably myself high on the list, believed. I mean, he really did enjoy his job. And in the Senate, they're all basically handcuffed to sign off on these Omnibus Bills and Continuing Resolutions because the rest of Congress won't do their one job and pass an actual, balanced budget.
Graham had no wife, no kids, just his job. He had opportunities over the decades he served to take advantage of all the pork and insider trading and other illicit crap that Congress members do to amass generational wealth, but he died with a net worth of just under $1.5M at just over 70 years old. That's not indicative of a greedy man.
He angered me at times and I still think he was a closeted ghey (which I truly don't care about), but retrospect on his life and learning new details (not particularly the ones given in this topic that may or may not be true) has definitely made me feel like he was maybe one of the better ones in the Senate. GOD knows he was light years better than my Senator (Lankford
May he rest in peace and may we forever be thankful for the excellent meme material he gave us.

Same.
I voted Lynch and was feeling rather pissy towards Graham... kind of re-evaluating my annoyance with him.

To me, it’s highlights how ridiculous Washington is for elected officials. They do nothing for themselves.
