While Trump blasts BDR like a true a-hole, DeSantis leans on his record and doesn't play in to that middle school garbage.

Edit: the video of DeSantis talking about Paul Ryan is from 2012. Trump in 2016 endorsed Paul Ryan as Speaker.

LINK

quote:

"Well, look, what I would just say is this. I roll out of bed, I have people attacking me from all angles," the Florida governor said. "It's been happening for many, many years. And if you look at the good thing about it, though, is if you take a crisis situation like COVID, you know — the good thing about it is when you're an elected executive, you have to make all kinds of decisions. You got to steer that ship."

quote:

"And the good thing is that the people are able to render a judgment on that, whether they reelect you or not. And I'm happy to say, you know, in my case, not only did we win reelection, we won with the highest percentage of the vote that any Republican governor candidate has in the history of the state of Florida."

quote:

"We won by the largest raw vote margin over 1.5 million votes than any governor candidate has ever had in Florida history," DeSantis said Tuesday. "And in fact, we almost doubled the previous record, which I think was like 780,000-vote margin. And so what I would just say is that verdict has been rendered by the people of the state of Florida."

Not gonna lie that response, at least what you quoted, is fairly weak

Yeah, that was not good.

Ron just isn't seasoned enough but he is young and will learn.

He's not ready to stand up to Trump or even the national media.

Winning in Florida is great but it's not like winning President of the United States which Trump has done. Many would say he did it twice.

You want him to act like Trump and come up with a really stupid nickname?

Also, Trump insults BDR then says that if BDR enters the race, it's disloyal? Trump threw loyalty out the window with his insults.

Trump just may be a really stupid person.

Great response. No need for him to directly confront Trump.

The Navy officer, Harvard/Yale congressman and governor of Florida isn’t “seasoned?” I get that you may prefer Trump, but that’s an ignorant statement.

Well it is a bit hard to hear over all that winning Ron has been doing recently.

Scoreboard. Ron is a winner and has never lost a General Election.

Wrong. You are on the outside looking in. Trump is on the inside and is seeing what is happening.

The Lincoln Project, Paul Ryan, Bill Kristol, the WEF.... etc etc..

Trump is not going to have a hard time with that. The voters will not either.

Hey Jjdoc, is Trump in the room with you now? Just curious.

Desantis is status quo, establishment backed and will maintain their policies of America last.

He is Jeb Bush with energy.

A lot of mumbling and stumbling there by BDR. Nevertheless, I'd be surprised if that was not the theme for months yet.

That and, "well ... he did choose to move from his home state to Florida. We must be doing something right."

Trump’s a Republican hero because he barely beat Hillary. I like Republicans who don’t lose the White House to Joe Biden, okay?

Desantis knows he will lose if he gets into the mud with Trump.

That response was perfect as it was above the fray but also offered Covid response as a point to compare them both on.

Trump getting in bed with Miss Lindsey and Ronna tells me he’s courting the establishment which will never fully accept him. They can accept Gov Ron.

Trump is forcing Ron to make a decision on a ‘24 run much quicker than Ron would like. The problem for Ron is that he’s prohibited from running while governor of Florida.

Beating HER was a monumental achievement. I don’t care what margin it was. If Ron gets the nomination, and somehow beats Biden, his margin of victory would be very similar to Trump’s win over Hillary. That’s just the way the electorate is today.
