Trump can be governor, he's played his part in the presidency.

I seriously don’t understand the Trump Ron great civil war of 2022 on this board. You could make solid arguments for and against each one (in comparison to each other). One of my biggest in favor of Ron is I’m tired of seeing people chart are future who won’t be alive to even see it’s early stage. One for Trump is he is a known quantity who gave us a great quality of life.

It's a few pacs and MSM that want TRUMP gone.

It's all documented and the words from Trump and DeSantis show it.

The fact that the Swamp came after him this hard tells me that he was doing the right things, but a politically weaponized bureaucracy and media are too much for any one man to overcome, if they aren't able to self-control their on words and actions, and continually give their opposition ammunition to attack them with.

It's either Rand Paul or Glenn Jacobs for me. Desantis might continue the military industrial complex for all we know.

Ive never been as excited for a candidate as I am for Ron.

It would be pretty crazy if Trump continues to pump the America First movement with his rallies and then he tells the MAGA faithful he’s supporting Desantis for president…..probably wouldn’t be a bad thing because the Gaslight Media is preparing their propaganda war against Trump for 2024 and then Desantis ends up being the nominee.

Great idea!
We should ALL consider voting for someone who has literally NO chance of winning.

Trumps base is so incredibly thin skinned and unforgiving. Any attacks by DeSantis will never be forgiven by Trumpers . DeSantis will be permanently damaged goods if he gets into a primary battle with Trump.

It’s very telling who the never trumpers are. Holding on to anything that says no Trump in 2024. Trump supposedly lost to Pedo Joe but the left is still concerned about Trump.

Not sure why people are convinced it's a wedge thing. I don't think the left wants Ron anymore than Trump. They'd like to use reality to divide us, sure, but the reality is that among people who know Ron and Trump, DeSantis is going to fair really well.

On a broader level, there is really no way to know because DeSantis won't pick up household name status until campaigning starts in earnest. It's fine to cast doubt on small sample sizes of intense conservatives, but if DeSantis is going to win H2H against Trump, this is what it would look like a year out.

TLDR: I don't think these straw polls reflect much other than deeply involved conservatives probably lean DeSantis. We won't know whether the general public will sign on for Ron over Trump for a while (if ever).

Because those on this board of rational mind know and understand that Donald Trump simply isn't electable. And they also know that Trump is too old to change and utterly incapable of learning from past mistakes.

Donald Trump is so egomaniacal and so petulant in his demeanor that right there under the surface, everyone knows in their heart of hearts, that if he can't have the Presidency then no conservative who could possibly outshine him will have it either.

Even his most ardent supporters have to know this about him. His character is so deeply flawed that he'll destroy the entire conservative movement before he allows Ron Desantis show him up.

How do people not see this?

It's a real risk. There is zero chance of an semi-amicable primary battle. The only outcome would be Trump winning or Ron winning with a bunch of Trump supporters claiming they'll stay home to punish DeSantis. Whether they would is a different matter, but the rhetoric would be a guarantee.

If DeSantis is an honorable man he would have nothing to fear in a primary battle with Trump. If he is not, it is as you say. Trump would destroy him.

Trump would destroy him either way though is the thing. Trump has an incredible record to draw upon and 75 million damn votes.

DeSantis, nor anyone else, is stupid enough to challenge that. This DeSantis shite is puzzling. These fanboys don't seem to understand exactly what Trump is, or is about. Nobody will stand in his way.

Although a pipe dream, because we all know Trump lacks this selflessness. If he were however to do this, it would guarantee a Desantis victory.

But if Trump runs, it'll guarantee a Democrat victory.

What you don’t realize is that’s a perk. Everyone has an opinion on Trump, many of them are unchangeable. Not everyone does on DeSantis though, and many that do have never heard him speak or at least speak in context. People are going to be very surprised, and DeSantis has a kill shot against Trump when it comes to Anthony Fauci.

and I can name more...

I can also point to the RINO/GOPe pushing it.
