Denmark lost more soldiers per capita in defense of America than any other NATO country
A whole FORTY THREE over 11 years. Oh my god what selfless sacrifice. So amazingly heroic to lose 4 people per year.
And the US lost 400,000 in two years during WW2. Rescuing the Nazi occupied danes and the rest of Europe.
And now we have spent 21 trillion since NATO was formed protecting the u grateful little assholes.
frick the danes.
frick you.
frick your fake outrage.
frick your make believe concern.
You are not morally superior to anyone.
You are a dumbass.

The entire Greenland issue is unnecessary and unfortunate. Denmark has always been a good ally,, and we’ve had full access to Greenland for national security purposes.
It seems like everyone on the planet that the defense and security of Greenland lies solely with the United States. In fact, even if Denmark wanted to defend it they wouldn’t be able to deploy their soldiers there. They don’t have the ships or the planes. Why shouldn’t it be ours?

About what I expected. Very high birth rates costing Denmark's social programs big bucks.

what was the reasoning behind Denmark sterilizing native women of Greenland?

The Danish government implemented a birth control campaign in Greenland during the 1960s and 1970s, primarily involving the non-consensual insertion of intrauterine devices (IUDs) into thousands of Inuit women and girls, some as young as 12. This often resulted in health complications, including infections, pain, and unintended sterility in many cases, effectively functioning as a form of forced sterilization for some affected individuals.

Greenland had been integrated into the Kingdom of Denmark in 1953, transitioning from colonial status. This period saw rapid modernization, a sharp decline in mortality rates, and a corresponding surge in birth rates—reaching the world's highest by the mid-1960s, with about 50% of the population under 16. High rates of out-of-wedlock births (around 25-50% in some areas) and pregnancies among young women were viewed as obstacles to education, workforce participation, and overall development efforts.
justiceinfo.net
The core motivation was population control to curb rapid demographic growth, which Danish authorities saw as escalating the financial costs of subsidizing Greenland's infrastructure, healthcare, and social services. By reducing birth rates, the policy aimed to lower these economic burdens and facilitate "improvements in living conditions," as stated by a Danish minister in 1970.

This aligned with broader colonial attitudes, including perceptions of indigenous Greenlanders as "subnormal" and incapable of managing their own family planning, influenced by Denmark's historical eugenics policies (such as its 1929 sterilization laws targeting "abnormal" groups).

The campaign dramatically halved birth rates within a decade, affecting nearly half of fertile women by 1970.

In 2025, Denmark issued an official apology, acknowledging the program as "systematic discrimination" after an inquiry revealed its scope and impacts.

Denmark pleaded with America to act as protectorate of Greenland after WW11, currently they enjoy American protections in Europe

So why would we want that? We can’t afford it.

You sound like Trump saying he didn’t like the idea of Russia being as close as Greenland, as if the Bering Strait wasn’t a thing…

When Trump says national security, he isn't just talking about the military. Greenland has rare earth materials that will allow us to be less reliant on China.
We have full access to Greenland's natural resources if we want them. Greenland has complete control and say over its natural resources wholly independent of Denmark. There has been minimal interest from the US private sector in spending the billions of dollars it will take to develop and mine for those resources.

If you associate tribute with a movie, I don’t think you’re mature enough for this discussion

My personal opinion is that "owning" Greenland is not our true intention. Securing strategic locations or having Europe defend it more securely is the intent in my opinion

We get it, you’re Denmark first.

I think they owed us bigtime for WW2 and afterwards for the Marshall Plan. Afghanistan is the very least they could do for us.

Denmark isn’t selling, their king and parliament have already made the official statement.
The people of Greenland have the right of self determination. They can name their price. And the US can make an offer.
Do you favor a king of another nation telling them what they can do?

Denmark answered the call of its ally after 9/11 and deployed thousands of troops to Afghanistan (Iraq, too, for that matter). Denmark lost more soldiers per capita in defense of America than any other NATO country (aside from the U.S.). We are friends with Denmark, to the incalculable benefit of both. Threatening to invade your friends is not the American way. It is what Russia would do, frankly.
They don’t care. They think it advances the interest of United States to somehow be aggressive to all nations and friends with none.
They feel they we are the biggest and strongest and shouldn’t need to exercise in good will to anyone to advance our goals.
People should jus agree t to trade deals that mainly benefit us and give us their territory and be grateful and subservient. It doesn’t make sense, but that’s the end conclusion of most of their takes.

I saw that Germany and France invaded Greenland this weekend.
We’re not allowed to invade Greenland?
