The magnitude of the delirium isn't even in the same stratosphere. The hyperbole I'm hearing from Dems is so widespread, and on a level of crazy, that it's alarming.

I always heard this stuff from the fringes, typically old retirees forwarding paranoid chain mail.

I'm hearing the racist, bigot, death camp stuff from extremely normal people who are ordinarily apolitical, and, it actually outnumbers Trump supporters and even just regular posts on my feed. They are attacking everyone who doesn't agree completely, painting them all as bigots and misogynists, and the whole feed likes and shares them, attacking anyone who dares challenge that hateful narrative.

It's one thing to do this against some distant, unknown "them", or "the government", or "the establishment". I myself have been guilty, but the hate against Obama was not directed at his voters. They may have been seen as ignorant or wrong, but never evil.

The liberals have turned like rabid dogs on their friends, family, colleagues, people they have known since they could walk, because anyone who does not agree 100% is now 100% evil and must be beaten, abused, and ridiculed until they submit. It has gone from the fringes to our, and every one of our's doorsteps.

This is how civil wars start. Once those voicing opposing opinions cease to be perceived as worthy of respect, but as a personal attack, all discourse is disrupted. Once disagreement is seen as an evil attack, those who voice such disagreement become perceived as evil and no longer seen as people. Once people no longer see the dissent as brothers, friends, family, neighbors, or even people, their minds can rationalize countering that dissent with violence.
