The closest the Republicans have ever come to this is about guns and it has never been anywhere near this level.

All politics at the national level seem to follow this extremist pattern recently. The fear-mongering has been rampant on both sides over the last decade or so, and it preys upon youth and ignorance.
I think this attitude is largely attributable to news media outlets becoming so heavily politicized as left/right-leaning in the cable era. With multiple options available to them, people gravitate towards the narratives they want to hear. Networks like Fox News and MSNBC saw financial opportunity and built their entire business model around this notion. The incessant muckraking by these networks has helped to create a poisonous atmosphere of myopic intolerance that is reflected in our representatives, as the primary responsibility inherent to their position is to cater policy to their respective constituencies in order to gain/stay in office.
Narrative bias among news organizations is natural and has always existed in various forms to some degree. However, in my opinion, the political pandering by modern news networks is irresponsible and antithetical to the principles of journalism. It has played a significant role in the increasing divide between liberals and conservatives, and as a result it's tough to find a moderate who can see reason on both sides and engage in genuine political discourse these days.

No sources were cited that anyone, let alone the president-elect of the US, supported mistreatment of anyone.
I have not even seen evidence that Trump is even racist or homophobic.

Your presidential candidate referred to people who supported her opponent as racist, sexist, homophobic, and deplorable.....with no basis to claim such an outrageous thing. I think it's safe to say that the Democrats who don't fit that mold probably voted for Trump or didn't vote at all.
CNN, the mouthpiece of the Democratic Party, discussed concentration camps last night for almost a half hour.

Well to be fair she said it was only about half that.
half of 47% is 23.5%.
That's probably a little bit high but 15-20% is about right.
