While no doubt there’s a few mouth breathers who buy that shite hook, line and sinker, I suspect a good many know better but simply don’t care because anything goes that helps their side achieve power.

They come by it honestly. Many of the educated Democrat voters have jobs and families and don't have a lot of time to educate themselves on what is actually going on. They watch the evening news or a late night "funny man" and believe they know what's going on in the world based on the information delivered through it.
Since many are corporate drones of some kind they don't have much exposure to the realities of the world they believe what they are exposed to.

Progressive Corporate Media does an excellent job of appealing to their viewers because without critically thinking, the viewers want to be recognized as compassionate, reasonable, intelligent, people.
In reality, they can't debate topics because they are simply drones to what the man/woman/person on the TV tells them.

I remember watching either CNN or MSNBC (on purpose) to hear their collective guests talk about the Mueller hearings. Some of the guests lamented about Reps questioning Mueller and not accepting the results, other guests responded with "we heard things today that we haven't heard about in the last 2 years. Who is this Kilimnik person and we now know he is an American asset, a state dept employee? Not a Russian asset? Were there really FBI informants in the Trump team?"

She says the reason the left reverts to calling republicans 'racist', 'sexist', 'homophobe', etc. is not because they think it's an effective tactic to persuade the voters to dismiss the opponent.
It's because they are too lazy and stupid to debate the issues.
