I don't. Completely end it tomorrow, I'd be fine. Just flip the fricking switch

How is Trump supposed to reduce spending by himself? Congress controls the purse. Congress makes all decisions based on money. Executive branch is supposed to enforce it, right? Isn’t that exactly what all you leftists were spouting off about last week with the ED?

Doesn't Trump sign the budgets? Or, since we haven't had a budget in years, the CRs? So, he could veto these spending bills if he wanted to. He doesn't get off the hook.

You obviously haven't seen this generation's definition of Conservatism.

So that's our new metric? We can be just as irresponsible as the Democrats?

I can answer that.

- We have an issue with spending. We have too much red tape on things the Gov tries to do. It jacks up the price of everything.

An example here is the wall and the Army Corp. It was pointed out yesterday how slow they were and how much over budget they are. A company announced yesterday they could build 235 MILES of the wall with modern tech and with a PAVED highway and WARRANTY the work for 1.4 Billion.

Trump has worked to reduce the regulations that push the cost up. However, too many "friends" of senators and of REPS are "owed" for their support.

- The state of our Military was bad. Parts for aircraft is a great example and how many planes were serviceable. The decay of nukes...etc.

This was a MAJOR... MAJOR part that needed to be handle due to the Obama years. Once it's done, hopefully we can reduce that.

Republicans don’t have the will to do it. Democrats don’t either. When was the last time you heard a Democrat want to raise taxes to clear up the deficit. They don’t they always want to pay for a new program.

The deficit could be cleared up quickly with a tax on the 47% not paying taxes or getting back more than they are putting in. All the illegals claiming dependents in other countries as well cost us 5 billion a yr estimated.

he shut the govt down for weeks over something he could use an emergency order for, but not to freeze let alone cut spending in appropriations bills

Again, this isn't an opinion piece or spin. It's a reporting of numbers that are from the CBO.

It's like some of you are just allergic to facts.

I blame the uniparty and turtle. Trump sent them a budget and they ignored it. The uniparty is one big continuing resolution.

Conservatism would be raising taxes in order to increase revenues (which of course NEVER MATERIALIZES) so that we can continue to INCREASE government spending in perpetuity?

Or maybe conservatism would be to just, you know, get the money somehow. Or print it. Who cares about the details?

Educate us!

Or what about... cutting spending? Smaller government, that sort of thing?

How is it?
Better than it would be under a Democrat like Hillary.

Dem obstructionism blocking attempts to cut the deficit by conservative is what I'm going with. Resist! has consequences.

It's not conservativism. They'll have no answer. They don't have principles. They're hypocrites. They will call you names.

Whenever you are ready to cut spending... which is what all true conservatives want to do... give us a call. Pelosi and Schumer cry and whine about Armageddon and instant death when you try to touch bloated budgets.

Will a bill slashing waste and bloat pass the house? Be honest. They are gathering support for a beyond fictional proposal that would cost between 70 and 100 trillion to implement. I take it as no.

Give us an answer that doesn’t involve sticking it to someone who puts forth an effort to give to people that don’t.

The deficit has reached the point that $0.10 of every fed dollar is needed just to pay the interest.

That means 10% of our tax dollars go to interest.

This snowball effect will pretty much kill any chance to lower the deficit unless some major cutbacks - which also don’t hurt GDP - are made.

The deficit will continue to grow.

Which is the reason many people on here supported Trump - because he would be "different". If, the next time Trump is sent a budget / CR that continues a lot of deficit spending, he vetoes it and tells Congress to try harder, he will get a lot of respect. Even if they override his veto.

The reality is Trump has a lot more in common with the GOP. Basically, both want to use the government to enrich themselves, their friends, their companies. You can't do that by cutting spending. And to be fair, the Democrats are "worse" but it's pathetic that "we aren't as shitty as the other side" is what passes for success these days.

On top of that, feeding our giant MIC is seen as patriotic

The Military Industrial Complex is 600B or 14% of the Total Federal Expenditure.

65% of the Entire Federal Budget is Social Spending, including Social Security, Medicare, and Welfare.

Just think about how much lower all of our taxes would be if people could learn to be responsible for their own lives.

Never mind...

I forgot the Principle that Mittens Romney stated that since 47% of Americans don't pay Federal Income Tax, they don't care if the rest of us do!
Those 47% will never care about personal responsibility when they can just vote for the rest of us to pay for their mistakes in life!
