So the guy for NO reason tells the police officer he has a gun and then goes for gun. Sorry don't believe it. I think this cop totally over reacted. I think the guy went for his wallet to show his license and got shot.

I also think that this cop put lives in danger by shooting in a car with a small child in backseat. He had backup and should have de-escalated the situation by stepping back from the car and handled it in a different way.

Wow, I expected a Nazi to run up screaming racial slurs and just start shooting. You know, because WHITE COPS are out to kill black people. That's what my TV keeps telling me.

Can we talk about how completely insane this is
quote:

“As that was happening, as he was pulling at, out his hand I thought, I was gonna die and I thought if he’s, if he has the guts and the audacity to smoke marijuana in front of the 5-year-old girl and risk her lungs and risk her life by giving her secondhand smoke and the front seat passenger doing the same thing then what, what care does he give about me?”

Yeah that won't fly in court later when the officer claims you consented to a search or waived your right to your property because you were "following orders". Sometimes the only way to enact your rights are to assert them during the stop. You can't revoke consent in court .

Well it is pretty fricked up that he would ride around in a car with a kid and smoke marijuana.

I feel bad for the Police officer who had to shoot him because of his threat to the officers because of his refusal to comply with a legal command.

You also see the officer repeatedly tell him not to reach for the gun, but he does so anyway.
We have no idea if that is what he did or not. That's the problem with no body cam.

I don't know if the guy should have been guilty of a murder, manslaughter, etc. I guess I'll defer to the jury that knows a lot more about this case than I ever will. However it seems very clear this guy should never have been a cop. His actions and comments show him to be way too nervous and reckless for that job.

Thank God this cop didn't pull over my parents in the early 80's before they quit. Probably would have executed them on the spot given how bad regular cigarettes are with the 2nd hand smoke.

No. Obviously I shoot everyone who says they have a gun and subsequently moves. It's just safer for me and mine.

Ridiculous posts get ridiculous responses.
the officer was justified in what he did. It's either him or me, and I can tell you right now I want to go home and see my kids.

That's more nonsensical than the "I don't know where the gun was but he was reaching for it."

Not only that he had his other hand on the wheel and was staring straight ahead....Yanez was in complete control, but he did not know it.

Cop fricked up....he may not be criminally liable due to the acquittal , but he and the department are in for a world of hurt in a civil proceeding.....burden of proof threshold is much lower.

Seems likely but you don't know what Philando's intentions were. Maybe he was going to get some revenge for Trayvon and what not.

And, more importantly, the cop didn't know what his intentions were either, especially with Philando telling him he had a gun, the cop telling him repeatedly not to get it, and Philando apparently continuing to go for it or something near it.

You're welcome to believe that. But that's not the same thing as having evidence to believe it. The video does not support your belief, though it doesn't contradict it either.

So can you agree that with no evidence to support that belief, there's not enough evidence to convict the cop?
