Hell yeah.

I'll give $749.99 for a used Big Green Egg. Just in case anyone finds one laying around.

Un-freaking-believable.

On second thought, VERY believable in this day and age, unfortunately.

Unbelievable.

They can steal up to $750 of stuff with no legal ramifications? Holy shite, if I had a business or home under that idiots jurisdiction I'd be in the process of packing my stuff right now. No way in hell I'd own property in a place with that kind of approach to law enforcement.

That's a great idea. Just keep going to someone's shed. Steal $749 worth of tools daily - sell them to a pawn shop rinse and repeat and move onto the next house. If a thief wants to put in a regular work schedule that equates to $194,740/year. Not too shabby of a business model.

Seriously though... The whole muh poor "non-violent prisoners being incarcerated is racists" has jumped the fricking shark!

It's not quite as bad as it seems.

quote:

Creuzot said his office will not prosecute theft cases where the value is under $750 unless the evidence shows the theft was for economic gain.

"Study after study shows that when we arrest, jail, and convict people for non-violent crimes committed out of necessity, we only prevent that person from gaining the stability necessary to lead a law-abiding life. Criminalizing poverty is counter-productive for our community’s health and safety," Creuzot said.

It's part of a wide range of efforts to keep homeless people out of jail cells, including cutting back jail time for first time drug offenders (simple poss) and criminal tresspass/vagrancy.

The Dallas County jail is overflowing with inmate, many of whom are nonviolent offenders.

So he's admitting black and brown people commit most of the crimes and it's not the system?

So if it’s just done to “redistribute wealth” then it is okay?

How will this be determined? And what kind of businesses would want to move to higher crime areas with this added risk on top of all the other ones?

So, does this mean, as a white man, I can just walk out of Home Depot with anything I need, under $750, whenever I need it?
