Looks like a cool spot to me. Thanks again man!

I’m wondering what’s up with the New Jersey 7 day positivity. It’s orange. It seems out of place.

The US death rate is about the same as most 1st world death rates.

Germany is the model for how to handle this whole thing

Be prepared for the case number today guys. Thank Texas, nearly 18k cases reported today, out of 48k total in the US. Nearly 14k of those are dumps. Otherwise, they reported a shade under 4k today. Specifically, thank Harris County.

Data frickery continues. This damn thing is ebbing but the states continue to make a mess of this via their terrible reporting. Georgia is still reporting cases from June and July.

Extremely good day on deaths. 821 today, which is well below the non-holiday Tuesdays the last few weeks

What metric are you using? If you are using deaths/1M pop, then the US is not close to the EU, Canada, or SEA averages.

Why are you using the EU as a reference and not invididual european nations.

The united states has a very similar per capita death rate to the UK, france, spain, and italy. Furthermore, there is some evidence that we are more liberal in how we classify covid deaths here. For example, the state of arizona is classifying ANY death from a covid infected person as a covid death.

The UK recently subtracted 5000 covid deaths because they were people who died WITH, but not OF, covid.

Also, not sure why you are hyping up europe right now. Their daily new cases are WAY higher than ours now, despite less testing per capita. Uk about to go on lockdown again

I feel like you have this preconceived notion that america uniquely botched cv19, despite the fact that numerous first world nations right now are seeing resurgences.

More covid numbers frickery. Majority of deaths are being reported from 45 fricking days ago. Numbers are really low.

Ethical Skeptic gets into the false tail effect. Wherein multiple tests are done to get a confirmation of a negative or a positive.

So the actual positive rate is much lower as those confirming positive tests are removed.

Another ES graphic.
Excess deaths due to the effects of the lockdown.

Bass - I've been following ES for months. The guy is genius and savage, and is convinced this whole shitshow is nothing short of a crime against humanity. Perhaps hyperbole, but not by much.

About where we were during the last trough in May, albeit with now allegedly more complete data. For instance, Florida wasn't reporting hospitalizations during the last trough. The nationwide decline has flatted substantially in the last week+, but is down 50% from the peak in August.
