While I agree with you, maybe the threat causes a long list of retirement announcements. Short term term limits.

Trump has no chance against Biden. I have the chance to do some traveling where I come across people that you would think would be slam dunk GOP voters. They’ve voted for other GOP pols, senate, the House, statewide offices, but they did not vote for Trump second time around, and they split their tickets in the mid-terms, e.g. Voted for Kemp in Ga., but Warnock for Senate. Trump has alienated these people.
There are also people who voted for him both times, and just want him to go away. They feel that he’s harmful to the cause.
And I’ve been harping on this, because it’s true. Other than regulatory reform and judges, he didn’t accomplish anything, because he doesn’t want to do the hard work.
People should also not underestimate Jan 6. A lot of usual GOP voters did not like it. Now you can laugh off those people, but they still vote. You can’t imagine them away. They’re on board with most GOP policies, stuff a lot of you want, but they are tired of Trump’s drama and chaos.
I didn’t vote for him the first time, but did the second. Biden is a disaster for the US, and the only way that Susan Rice and Ron Klain can continue to run this country, is to have Trump as Biden’s opponent. Any other GOP candidate can beat him.
Not Trump.

- Trump also promised to push term limits on congressmembers to combat career politicians.
Guess who’s going to be running Congress when those members are replaced by new members, with no institutional experience or memory.
That’s right-bureaucrats.

will ask Congress to establish an independent auditing system to continually monitor our intelligence agencies to ensure they are not spying on our citizens or running disinformation campaigns against the American people, or that they are not spying on someone’s campaign like they spied on my campaign,” said Trump.
He got so much done when he had split control of Congress, I’m sure that the Dems will jump to work with him on this one-especially when he makes it all about himself and his campaign.

Why not do this with a R house and senate, and 4 years?

I laughed at the Dems using it as a centerpiece for the midterms. It really was an eye opener to see it work for them

He wants to dismantle the deep state but don’t touch social security.

Yeah running on dismantling Social Security would be a winning strategy

Why hire replacements? The bureaucracy is bloated beyond measure...just start swinging the axe.
Tell them to learn to code and kick them out the door.
These laws and regulations will still exist.
Imagine trying to get a federal drilling permit and having to wait 9 months just to begin the application because they don't have anyone to start the process.
You're displaying just the type of long-term thinking I expect of a "fight" fan

Our government has become a bloated bureaucracy and we could stand to fire tens of thousands and NOT replace them.
Again, you have to dismantle thousands of laws and probably millions of regulation to accomplish this.
The law won't change and the requirements of fedgov will still exist.

Trump could have saved a lot of bloviating and simply pledged to shrink the Federal government by 30% in 4 years by sending government power back to the state level.

Right? Because I should have voted for no new taxes-CIA Daddy Bush, right? Keeping the CIA man in office would have prevented where we are today?

Yep. He won't do that though. If he wins, he will simply replace deep staters with people loyal to him.
