The message from Cracker Barrel management went down for some like a stale biscuit.

Employees should postpone work travel until later this year, when the Southern-themed restaurant chain hopes to start recovering from a steep sales slide. But if workers must hit the road, management said, they should fuel up on the chain’s own meatloaf and country fried steak.

Cracker Barrel has instructed employees to delay work travel following a notable drop in sales. If travel is unavoidable, the company wants staff to dine at nearby Cracker Barrel locations. The news comes as more companies try "travelscrimping" to cut costs, The Wall Street Journal reports. Earlier this month, Cracker Barrel announced plans to lay off several dozen corporate employees after the chain reported a steep decline in quarterly sales and profit.

The humanity... being forced to enter Cracker Barrel... much less eat there must be a fate worse than death to the woke minions who attempted to rebrand it.

New saying, Go woke... Forced to eat at Cracker Barrel...

Oh how they underestimated in 2025..

quote:

"People like what we're doing," Julie Felss Masino told "GMA" on Tuesday, in response to the shift to more modern country touches. "Cracker Barrel needs to feel like the Cracker Barrel for today and for tomorrow -- the things that you love are still there. We need people to choose us, and we want people to choose us."

Masino added that at a recent on-site meeting with managers in Florida, the "No. 1 question I got asked was, 'How can I get a remodel, when can I get a remodel, and how do I get on the list?'"

"The buzz is so good, not only from our customers, but from our team," she said.

Masino also announced the company's new campaign on Tuesday, dubbed "All the More," which she said "highlights how people feel about Cracker Barrel."

5 months later...

The chain continues to face challenges stemming from a “disastrous” rebrand in 2025, which involved a new logo and plans to modernize its restaurant interiors.
The rebrand and subsequent menu alterations provoked significant customer backlash, resulting in a reported $94 million loss in market value and the company ultimately abandoning the proposed changes.

Hmm wonder why...

But it was broke. They mis-diagnosed how to fix it.

The board of directors elected to keep her as CEO like 3 months ago.

The company would be better led by an illiterate hillbilly living on a mountain.

From 2006-2019 it was flat, 2020 broke all of dining out. They had been steadily regaining sales until at least 2022.

Not broke by a long shot.

It's just another in a long line of people who hate the original thinking they can make it more like what their social circle wants.

Now it's actively shrinking as none of their social circle would be caught dead walking into one.

You showed that revenue stayed relatively steady. Now look at their margins. It's been broken, but the re-brand was absolutely the wrong corrective course.

I agree with broken as I thought you meant they were "broke" aka out of cash/assets

A lot of that was due to them taking many loans during covid.

Those debt payments were a drag on already slim margins, it's how most restaurant chains die. (Ye olde Leveraged buyout)

Cracker Barrel was — and is — broke, though. The food is cheap shite and has gotten worse over recent years. Add in the fact that service went to hell and you see that it is, in fact, broke. They just chose not to fix the actual problems, instead choosing expensive window dressing over substance.

Ah well.

Cracker Barrel’s biggest problem has been the decline in quality. If their executives are forced to eat their food it might help things. If they could get back to decent comfort food their sales would increase.

Seems lie a lot of these places are running on such thin margins that they simply cant increase quality because it costs more.

They selling the cheapest most low-quality version of a frozen chicken-fried steak-patty there's nowhere left to go.
