quote:That's terrible. Miscarriage can be extremely grievous to the parents. Telling a mother she is essentially guilty of murdering her child as she grieves for something that is completely out of her control is simply awful.
A family member accused my mom of having an abortion because she's had miscarriages and to this day my mom won't talk to her.

Sounds mentally liberating to be honest.Do you ever question your belief in God or have you ever?

Cox is currently carrying a pregnancy with virtually no chance the baby -- who has trisomy 18 -- will survive to birth or long afterward. She's said she has been denied the safest form of abortion care for her -- a dilation and evacuation procedure. The CRR would not disclose when or where Cox plans to obtain her abortion care due to safety concerns.
Then it's the hospital not the law.
She's a liar.

Not sure the exact details on this case, but baby has a decent chance at life:

Had to do a 12 lead EKG on a baby once. Midwife shite the bed. They had the baby with known condition knew the child would not survive the birth or immediately after. So they deliver at home. Sounds like a plan. Surrounded by family and support. Until they get to pronouncing the death and death cert etc. The midwife calls EMS who then in the late 2000s could not pronounce on scene or “no-load” such a cluster.
Bunch of Firemen. All dads and grandpas come in after an onion cutting contest. It was awful. Those guys were so pissed. About 5 seconds into doing that somber and SILENT ekg, so was I.
Trisomy 18 is either swift death or slow death while a young family piles up staggering medical bills for high acuity NICU to early Pedi care. THEN a dead baby.

That’s so sad. Abortion opinion aside, I feel very sorry for this lady.

She shouldn’t have to, but if she went to Massachusetts and got this done would Texas go after her criminally?

I think this is the kind of thing everyone supports. What conservatives are against is unnecessary abortions that could have been eliminated with some personal responsibility ahead of getting pregnant.
Someone needs to tell Ken Paxton.

No, though there are some counties that have passed draconian laws that ban any assistance with travel.

Some docs have to have chimed. How does it get to this point.
How’s it not just a consent for D&C. With a diagnosis of “non viable fetus”.
Is viability ONLY a heartbeat and fetal movement? If a horrific birth defect is seen on ultrasound can’t that be the definition?

She could have gone to another state to have the abortion. I know that’s less convenient, but this lawsuit is all about forcing Texas to change its laws and not because she couldn’t get an abortion.

Which counties and what assistance , specifically, is banned?

Well maybe Texas should change it’s laws to allow it for babies with horrible body defects.

If she is telling the truth she could have it in Texas.

Texas laws banning abortions make narrow exceptions only to save the life of a pregnant patient or prevent “substantial impairment of major bodily function.”

You just assume she has the means to travel. What if she doesn’t and what about other women who don’t. The answer is not you have to carry what is an almost definitely non viable fetus to term to watch it die in front of you, and while you do that you may end up with complications that make it difficult to carry again. This is just wrong.

I feel a little differently than you and her of course.
Instead of killing the baby I would want to save it.
But I get it if the parent doesn’t want to go through all that and still not have the baby make it. Either decision is difficult.
And before you say they can’t survive…
