I think it is disingenuous to say black people, particularly in the south, weren't treated as second class citizens before and into the 60's (at least). But Johnson's civil rights agenda in no, way, shape, or form came from a place of altruism. He viewed them as "dumb" useful pawns he could use to create a monolithic voting block for a party which, before then (and during) was the face of racism in the US. His plan was to make them government reliant. He succeeded.

Equality would have organically come about (albeit at a slower pace). But it likely would not have come at such a cost of destroying the nuclear family ideal amongst black people

He was slime. But the crap we presently have in DC is worse.

To be fair, he's not making any decisions. He's just there. We literally could have the robot from Disney World's Hall of Presidents sitting in the White House and it would be the same. Maybe better because at least the robot could be programmed to not be a buffoon and constantly say dumb things.

Him and FDR did some serious damage to our Republic.
Also getting rid of the state legislature selecting Senators to represent their states was big screw up too.

He basically gave them a form of living off the government. They were framed under the hand of the Democratic Party.

Why do you mean why? That much is 100% obvious, right?

The only difference between LBJ and Obama is that Lady Bird was a woman. 2 pieces of human excrement.

The first man I ever viscerally hated - I was taught from a child by my grandfather when I was a kid that LBJ was a "bad man" - a murderer - and that was back in the 40's = some of my first remembrances are listening to my grandfather discussing that thing call "politics" with his friends and relatives.

I remember when the announcement was made of JFK's assissanation - my first thought after the shock was = "LBJ did it"

and YET - during his presidency I supported the war in Vietnam - at that time I felt that even though he was probably a murderer, nobody could be so bad as to start a war like that.

Now that the Gulf of Tonkin 'incident' has been exposed to be just another CIA/MIC collusion to get another shooting war started it has finally dawned on me that some people are just that evil = the entire upper echelon of the DEM party and the upper crust oligarchy fall into the same category = evil people.

You don’t get LBJ without Woodrow Wilson and FDR coming first.

fify

Biden is evil - but he is also stupid - LBJ was not stupid - he was a master manipulator

All Biden can do is sell his access to valuable information. He is dumb as shite. always was - a pure waste of human existence.

I was only a couple years old during Johnson but Jimmy Carter is the worst ( until Biden) that I remember and Carter is actually a distinct cousin of mine.

What about the guy who:

1. Signed 11 tax increases
2. Increased gov spending 68%
3. Increased protections on US products by 100% including on wooden clothespins, yep.
4. Doubled the Dept of Ed’s budget despite campaigning to abolishing it.
5. Increased fed entitlements from 197b to 477b
6. More than doubled farm subsidies
7. Revved up the Nanny’s states war on drugs
8. Had crushing mortgage rates that never went below 10%
9. Had an avg UE rate of 7.5%
10. Left office with inf at 4.4%

?

LBJ had his own personal hit man dating back to that time…Malcolm Wallace. He was a convicted murderer whom LBJ got out of prison (after serving 5 years) and got him a job in the Dept of Agriculture working as an economist.

Woodrow Wilson by a mile.

Federal Reserve and Federal Income Tax both under his administration. It was the foundation for the gov't we have today.

He was the most damaging which isn’t the same as the worst.
