Why not just take them all?

No matter how much you want to dance, 60% of Covid admissions being vaccinated is not a good data point for all you true believers.
Isn't this likely the work of the lambda variant? Just because delta and others have been more or less "covered" by the existing vaccines, doesn't mean it's a panacea.

I take it more as those that are vaccinated are more likely to circulate and be exposed to infection.

Could be. Could be something else. We can’t know because no one will be honest.

I guess. Seems like it's going to be fairly easy to report once they find out.

I agree this isn't great vaccine news, but I don't think in the way you mean. The vaccines work, but they are not supermen. Pretending like this is a good reason not to vaccinate is counterproductive (and not particularly honest.)

What is the jab rate there in the UK? They might not work at all.

That is not what the data say, but sure, carry on being willfully dumb.

Very possible, that you have a greater chance if you got jabbed. (of course, we would probably need much better numbers to somewhat prove that) I'm going to go out on a limb and say if these numbers are true, the jab probably didn't help you.

UK population 66m
One dose: 46m
Two doses: 36m

Update: BurntOrangeMan, just posted mine at the same time. Numbers are pretty close.

Like I needed reason #101 not to get the jab.

so, your position of 60% of the people being admitted to UK hospitals is that "vaccines are not supermen"?

If that many people are being admitted to hospitals, then the vaccine effectiveness is probably much, much lower than 40% but I was making the math really easy for you...

It’s certainly not an argument for vaccination.

This isn't true. Data shows being vaccinated is still better than not at all.

Wrong. The only data supporting that is data that excludes the massive amount of people (60-90%) that were naturally immune to Covid to begin with.

OP Link story has been corrected on Reuters:

quote:

(OFFICIAL) 60% of people being admitted to UK hospitals are unvaccinated - adviser

So the vaccine is apparently still 40% ineffective? Not much better.

Its eerie similar to when they were calling for "vents, vents, vents" last year, after we had numbers from China showing that 98% of the people put on vents died right there in the hospital. The vents were more or less 0% effective.

It looks like a similar situation with the jab, but it would require better data. I think you need a breakdown of the age of the people getting the jab as well.

On the surface this doesn't look good.

This was actually a mis-speak on the UK Official. He has since corrected it, and Reuters updated to say that 60% of all admissions are not vaccinated. That still could mean that 40% have had some or all of their vaccine doses.
