So in other words, cops and their families deserved to eat and have a roof over their head more than the small business owners. Those cops could have done the right thing and refused to enforce the unconstitutional mandates. They didn't.

Covid wasn't confusing for anyone with half a brain. It was all a fricking lie.

Every now and then dumb leftist will trip over and actually diagnose an actual problem even if their critical theory way of viewing the world always makes their prescription for solving it retarded. Something really does need to be done to improve policing in our country and get rid of like 50% of the laws.

This isn’t true. My friend is a cop, was in his wedding. He’s a good dude.

And he never met and never would have met GF or Derek Chauvin.

Generalize much? I know quite a few and this is wholeheartedly the opposite of each and every one of them. You’re no better than the cooks on the left who take one incident of a bad cop and label the entire community of cops accordingly. frick off dude

Agree with this completely. That said, I have come to understand that if the government violated your constitutional rights, it's about a 95% chance that law enforcement are the ones that did it.

Ding ding ding!!! Straw Man #2!!!! Congrats. Can we go for 3?!

Me believing it is bad to retroactively and publicly punish good intentioned officers for enforcing laws (that were never before the SCOTUS and determined to be unconstitutional) related to a viral pandemic (something most police officers are not exactly educated on) just HAS TO mean I think that the families of those officers deserve to eat more than small business owners' families. Sorry, nothing about "deserves". Maybe I just don't think hard working people should be punished for doing their best in a crappy situation??? No.... that can't be it...it must mean something more sinister.

You are really good at this. OK. Here is a challenge for you. Can you turn what I just said into me promoting kicking puppies? I know you can do it so put those straw man skills to work. Here is a template below. Ready... set...GO!

So, who's the better half?

That’s not what this is about. You can take any large group - commies, NFL players, lawyers, policemen, homosexuals - and most of them will be good people. This is true of Republicans and Democrats, also.

You ask, “Who’s the better half?” Certainly I think small government conservatives have the right idea. But lefties, who want a nanny state, simply don’t understand the danger. A nanny state has to take most of the production from the workers in order to mete out those benefits. And you can’t have a government THAT big without ending up with tyranny. That’s what they miss. That, and the fact that if you don’t get a much better life by working hard 9/10’s of the people won’t work hard.

You should take a look at the like/dislike ratio of the OP. Conservatives are no longer going to be reliable defenders of law enforcement and give them a free pass on everything like they used to. It's moving to just just the neocon fringe that isn't really conservative and is ok with the government having absolute power to do as they please.

The dreaded like/dislike ratio from the tiger droppings politics forum has spoken! The ultimate arbiter of all that is right and just in this world!

But I have to give it to you. There wasn't really blatant straw man in that comment. I know it was hard for you to abstain. Good job.

I just don't get how some of you really seem to believe cops are infallible. In the past we really did hold bad ones accountable. FL and VA as recently as the 1980's. Both states cooked a couple of former cops in the electric chair. Now anything goes. A cop could commit a string of murders that would make John Wayne Gacy blush and y'all would still cry buckets of excuses to spare them any moment of accountability.

And the FBI that were there? How much power does a governor have?

I really don't care either way but one random ambulance chaser with a youtube video isn't what I would base my decision on.

He even states "this is what we really believe happened".

It's strange to me that folks would camp out on one side or the other when it comes to stuff like this. I'm not anti-cop per se but I'm not pro-cop either. When the cops are wrong, they deserve to be punished just like the rest of us. When the cops make the right call, they deserve to be commended. Folks are just so quick to throw around labels on others for having a slightly different opinion than they do. You don't immediately condemn cops in every circumstance? Bootlicker. You think there are problems in policing in the US? You're a blm hardcore leftist. It's madness.

I take your point and it is valid. I think most sane people agree policing of the populace is necessary if for no other reason than to prevent individuals from having to constantly be on guard, many people are not capable of preventing their being a victim of crime and most of us would over react when threatened...cops are necessary.

With that in mind supporting the status quo is detrimental to police themselves. The attrition rate is abysmal. It is painfully obvious we ask them to do things they are ill equipped to do and offer them nothing but platitudes when some training and reasonable support would fix a heaping pile of problems. Sane folks more or less agree that police are necessary yet we turn a blind eye to the glaring problems we force on them like dealing with mental health issues, enforcing ill advised prohibitions etc.

I don't see any difference in how cops are now and how they were 50 years ago. There has always been a-holes amongst them.
