Unpopular opinion: If cops were as bad as you say, then you'd have a hell of a lot more stories than 1 every 4 months of a 1 cop being a shithead. In 2021, there were 661,000 police officers in America. Surely if they were the thugs you thought they were, we'd have way more incidents, would we not?

I agree that cases where cops do something absolutely wrong and it gets buried or they get off on a technicality, that's unacceptable. I'm just willing to look at both sides of the coin.
The justice system itself should really be the thing that's looked at. I can't imagine being a cop and risk my life collaring a violent criminal shithead only for a woke DA to let them go.

I get at least 1 case every 4 months with an LEO being a shite head, and I don't have a high volume of cases.
People have made bootlicking such a strong part of certain population's culture that it takes a HUGE event to even get them to discuss it (and typically they will still defend the cops. Hell, you had them defending cops in that LEO murder in Memphis a few months ago on this board)

Nobody except the OP.
I would amend his statement to "you have no idea if the cop you're dealing with is crooked." At one time they had the benefit of the doubt in questionable situations, and that time is long gone for me. I really don't have interactions with them, but when I read a story I don't start off with any assumptions about the cop's honesty any more than I do the perp's.

Fact of the matter is that when the police officer states that he smells marijuana it’s his right to search and seize you and when you law breakers fight back you deserve to get shafted by the long arm of the law

We need fewer LEO with much higher qualifications, more rigorous training, and a better morality and we should pay those people much more than LEO make today. We also need to develop a system of LEO funding that isn't largely based in fining drivers for petty traffic offenses (this creates a terrible incentive that is in many ways the root of LEO cultural rot).
We need to develop a system of policing that is more efficient with fewer intrusions into the lives of citizens.

This was not true for about 30 years in a row, and yes, we are having an uptick now. The question is if this is a new trend or just a statistical outlier. It's only been about 2 years.
The economic crises of 2008, 2020, and now 2022 are also a major factor.
I mean if we enacted Sharia Law, I'm sure crime would go down (some posters on here opine for this at times). Is that good? Beneficial?

It's not one or the other, we need lots of well trained and accountable police officers in our cities in particular. We should support a well funded and well trained LEO community. Unfortunately as I referenced earlier, so many folks already have their lines in the sand (bootlicker, Marxist) that there isn't much productive dialogue to be done.
