This is the guy who told crooks and criminals to take a break and chill during the Covid pandemic. All that can wait until after the China virus is gone.

i mean, a protest isn't the same as the carnage that was going on elsewhere

and i didn't think turner was a bad mayor at all, he and judge emmett were lock in step for harvey and showed the kind of unison that you don't see much of anymore

Actually, I am sure about that. We didn't have the murderous riots that occurred in many other cities.

He did do a decent job during Harvey. Whether they agreed with each other or not, Turner and Ed Emmett always appeared together and presented a united front, making me believe they had actually discussed things and come to an understanding. Turner stayed the hell away from from Lena Hidalgo during the Covid crap. While a liberal D, he understood that somethings she wanted just wouldn't fly and didn't do joint press conferences with her. He could have done much worse.

Agree, I was actually impressed with how he handled Harvey.

No. But Houston did relatively well after Harvey and compare Houston with say Atlanta during the 2020 summer.

You mean after the flooded 20,000+ homes days after Harvey passed to save the 1,0000 homes of morons that built homes literally up against the levees or the reservoirs designed to mitigate flooding for the rest of Houston?

It could have been much worse in many ways, sure, but Turner was an awful mayor and completely and utterly one of the most corrupt politicians you will ever meet. He screwed over local businesses with the Hobby Airport Dining fiasco to get his buddies in Miami the contract by keeping on refusing to accept the scoring that was received.

Emmett was the only reason he was kept in check, but once he had Hidalgo in place, the man was complete corruption at its most extreme.

He should have come out of the closet years ago and help the gay community with him being seen as a strong gay black man.

He did handle those situations well, and did seem to work well with Ed Emmitt.

However, there were a number of blatantly obvious corruption scandals under him, and he had to at minimum be aware and not care and worst case complicit.

His right hand man, William-Paul Thomas, please guilty to federal charges. The water main repair contacts during the drought given to completely unqualified people who were related to his head of public works. Firing the Housing director for saying Turner was bankrolling a developer of low income housing. Then that guy builds a low income complex on a contaminated site and now sits empty.

You can go on and on. I hope he rests in peace, but it's pretty hard to dispute the guy was corrupt to his freaking core and cost Houston billions in corrupt spending.

He has a tweet from 15 hours ago, and he attended Trump’s speech.

They’re calling it a “medical emergency,” but he clearly has some facial paralysis going on.

He was a scumbag that voted for liberal policies. If you are a scumbag when you are alive death doesn't change that.
