I found out that they fired 5 engineers, some of which had been with us for 20+ years, because they didn't get the vaccine. All were in the Houston area and because one of our customers decided that all of their employees and vendors have to be vaccinated to enter the building.
I immediately called my director and asked if that was going to roll into our area. He said no as long as none of our customers don't require it.

I love my job and have really enjoyed working for this company. However, if this is how they are going to operate then I'm feeling the need to start looking elsewhere. They could have easily allocated these engineers to different customers.

There's no logical reason for any company to require people to be vaccinated outside of politics. Anyone with half a brain can look at the data and see it. I'm really sick of all this mess.

My son has a potential heart issue. I'll be damned if some company requires him to get a potentially heart damaging vaccine.

Vaccines now.
Guns in 20.
Private property in 40.

Everything is priming to hand over rights.

No chance anyone in my house is getting this vaccine. We'll deal with whatever consequences we have to deal with, and come out better for it.

"Libertarians" on this board think this is fine because it's businesses doing it. Morons.

What a retard. This is an insane policy for any company to take. A customer can now somehow dictate the medical policies of a company?

I don’t believe that. I would sue the shite out of my company for firing me over that. And I would win.

Since when can companies mandate any medicine on their employees, much less experimental vaccines with unknown consequences? Should be illegal and those 5 former employees should sue the shite outta the company.

There have been articles linked here before about this customer requiring it for their employees. You don’t have to believe me, but it’s certainly true.

I can’t fathom how this doesn’t end in a law suit.

I made it clear to my boss that I have no intention on getting the vaccine. I told him if I were still in Houston, I would have been one of the ones getting fired. So he knows where I stand.
Fortunately, with my education, experience, and training, I have nothing to worry about.

why not actually name said company if you're so appalled about it? Why would you protect them? Do you think they'd hesitate to doxx you or your son?

So have any of the vaccines received full FDA approval yet? If not, then no one can make it a requirement that you take an experimental vaccine. Sue the pants off the employer and the company that required the vaccine

I have a family to take care of first and foremost. While I adamantly disagree with what they are doing, I don’t want to jeopardize my career. If I make the decision to move on from the company then I wouldn’t care.

We have all seen that TD stretches far wider than many of us could have anticipated. I don’t want their name showing up in searches at this time.

I've posted before. I work contract in a facility -- my boss has told me that her new contract with teh facilities for a certain company say that she will provide vaccinated people. I told her LAST JUNE that I would NOT be taking a vaccine any time soon.. That is still my stance.

My days are very numbered .. she's trying for a last ditch medical/religious exemption.

Issues is that what I do has limited people who do it AND we're required by the state to be in these facilities. She has 4 of 6 employees in Louisiana who are opting to NOT take vaccine at this point so she'll have to figure out what to do.

She's been dealing with the corporate people so far as she's supposed to .. admins are next as they have no clue that this is going on. Not sure why I still even want to work for this company through her (LOVE her, just not the contract group).

I'm fortunate/blessed/privileged/whatever that I can say "see ya" .. it's extra money that makes me feel like I contribute more than meals and clean laundry to my family. Husband doesn't care if I work or not but still ..

EDIT to clarify that NO OTHER CONTRACT or regular employee is mandated YET to take this. Hospice people come in, xray/lab/vending machine people/psych people ALL come in daily .. are EVERY one of them vaccinated?? Families are not required to be vaccinated to see their loved ones (I have zero issue with this) .. my issue is they can come all day every day unvaccinated yet I can't go in 24 hours per month unvaccinated.

F'em.

Assholes in congress + Trump indemnified Pharma for the vaccines, but I don't think that extends to employers. Seems to me a company that gives that kind of ultimatum might be held accountable should there be any bad vaccine outcomes?

Hospitals have been requiring flu vaccines for employees since the 80s that I am aware of, although it could have been longer.

Matter of fact, in eight states it's a state law that they have to.

I tired to tell y'all in the other tribal tread about this that this is nothing new. And no, you wouldn't win a lawsuit.
